afghan troop deal
we will apparently be leaving troops over there after next year-for 'training and counterterrorism operations'.
great. |
I'm sure we will be getting reimbursed as the day's of unfunded wars are over.
|
i would wait to see what the afghan loya jirga and parliament do with the proposed deal. there is very little sense there of the depth of weariness the american public has with the war and how little regret there would be on this side if it were rejected.
it could easily be rejected by the afghans and american involvement end next year. |

Still waiting for us to get off the 38th parallel after 60 years. We don't ever leave, and continue to pay, leaving "tripwire" forces all over the globe. Then we get surprised to get entangled in another quagmire someday.
Tell the South Koreans to defend their own country. After all, they have a lot of money there since the entire American steel industry has basically moved there over the last half decade or so. |

WASHINGTON — Afghanistan's President Hamid Karzai has refused to sign a security deal with the United States, the White House said, and Washington may have to resort to the "zero option" of withdrawing all American troops from the strife-torn country next year, as it did in Iraq.
Karzai told U.S. National Security Advisor Susan Rice in Kabul on Monday that the United States must put an immediate end to military raids on Afghan homes and demonstrate its commitment to peace talks before he would sign a bilateral security pact, Karzai's spokesman said. afghanistan has been mishandled from the get-gp. karzai is a joke. just pull everyone out, and to hell with those dipshits. taliban will be back in control in no time, and we will have wasted lives, time and money for nothing. which is typical of d.c. and international policy for decades. |
Just heard death by stoning for adultery has been reinstated by the Taliban. :tro:

it's far past time to leave. the war has dragged on longer than both world wars and the civil war combined, according to the article. when put in that context, rather than just saying 'longest us war ever', it really puts it in perspective. note in the article how it helped break the ussr financially. i believe it. after all, a quote is that there are three things needed to wage war. money, money, and yet more money. you know, the same money we don't have for medical care for our own citizens.... |
