Aqueduct Murals
This is the coolest concept I've seen in recent memory. Harmony of the 'city track' with street art is brilliant. Opportunity to draw unusual, uninitiated to AQU to see the works is another of the good ideas emanating from NYRA.

It's a great idea. It's exactly the kind of new, outside the box, thinking that people rightfully complain Racing rarely employs. Aqueduct is a city track. It always has been. We mostly run during mediocre weather. If we're going to draw newer people, we need to think of who they might be, and how to make them aware of Aqueduct. I think it was a clever idea ( no, I had nothing to do with it ).

I like these murals more than the one for Paynter at Winstar.
https://twitter.com/WinStarFarm/stat...463936/photo/1 The idea was good given what they're going for, but it looks from any real distance like someone trespassed on the farm's property and tagged the place. |
Are those bullet holes in the letter " U " ?

Was listener today (illness and off from job) -- this is awesome idea! I followed Twitter link. Ambicious, edgy project based on artist profiles. Hope this goes very well and proves to be model for other racetracks.
Oh, I am 57 year old male who thinks that this type of out-of-the-box, mash-up style experiment shows blend of creativity and risk-taking that may create new positive result and experience for patrons. Plus, I am just sucker for art and horses. And if they make t-shirt with that logo, I will probably be relieved of some of my bankroll. Look forward to seeing pictures of this event and works created. |
