Keeneland - 50 Cent Pick 4's

What do you guys think about this. Not sure if I like this.

Pointg5 10-04-2006 10:48 AM

They are now a cheap track, so why not resort to gimmicks, handle will probably be down...

Coach Pants 10-04-2006 10:56 AM

I think it's a good idea. Of course I don't fear change because i'm not one of the 80 year olds at the track. :D

I am not 80 yo either, but that Poly Crap is rediculous...

hey Point a couple days ago at Beulah a trainer stopped by the barn I was chilling at and had a ziplock bag with the poly mixture in it. said he got it from Turfway. that stuff is kinda creepy looking and stinks, literally smells bad.

I think its great, more bad money = better prices. The 10 cent supers at Meadowlands have resulted in payoffs of $117 for 10 cents (with an 8-1 over the the top 3 choices) and $75 for 10 cents (the top 3 choices and a reasonable longshot). Don't think they'd have paid as high with the previous $1 entry fee.

It's the future and i'm looking at it with a positive attitude. The handicapping aspect will get easier through time and added data.

I agree, you will get alot of free $10 with people getting out of control. It also helps from a structure standpoint, if all you bet is pick fours, you can essentially play of your tickets for $3 and a couple back up wagers for $0.50....

I noticed the same thing this year at the Scioto Downs meet. The 10 cent Supers consistently paid well when one compared the odds on the top 4. I will not play them, but I may take a stab or 2 at a 50 cent Pick 4. Why not when one can get aggressive for a small amount?

Yes it does stink very badly, one time at Turfway it was very windy and that garbage was all over the parking lot. Unless, it is totally different surface, wait to they get a whiff of that stuff at KEE this weekend...

I'm sure as hell not going to side with the crybabies.

I went walking on it at Keeneland a couple weeks ago. you can tell how much softer it is than traditional dirt tracks... it smells like a rubber factory.

Pointg5 10-04-2006 11:10 AM

Be my guest blender your money, so some College Kid that can 't read a Form takes it from you...

Oh and the debate about the polycrap continues. Add Kee & Hollywood to the list of tracks (already Woodbine and Turfway) that wont get any of my $$$ no matter how big the race is...

They didn't take away your ATM Machine, so I don't want to hear about it...

This is the same issue / benefit with the various threads around $.10 supers. It is a great benefit for $.50. Pick 4 pays $1199 for a $1 - pay taxes. Same ticket for .50 - no taxes. You want to play the $1 just hit the repeat button. Unlce Sam takes the hit instead of the player.

I had wondered if it had worked that way if that is the case it is a great ideal.
I knew that it worked that way on $2 ticket vs a $1 ticket.
