Worst TV shows of the 1980s
Since MacGyver was mentioned in the other thread, and it aired mostly in the 1980s, I figured we were ready to move back a decade.
I should note- I remember the 1985 Fall Preview issue of TV Guide, which included a page on MacGyver and my teenage self thought that Richard Dean Anderson was quite possibly the most beautiful man I'd ever seen. I know, me and Marge Simpson's sisters. What can I say, it was the 1980s. I also had a thing for Andrew McCarthy. While I would not nominate Magnum PI for one of the worst shows, I will take any excuse to link to this: Han Solo PI Nobody better say Dallas, or I will cut you. |
Oh, I forgot to offer one up. Small Wonder. Girl is a robot because of course she is. Or maybe Out of This World where girl is half alien, and not the kind that Congress is worked up about.

Christina Applegate is a very funny lady. She was a riot in Anchorman. |
Alf was terrible.
Terrific, and often forgotten, was Buffalo Bill. |
i had to google 90's tv shows, and that's where i saw mcgyver and walker....not much of a tv watcher.
80's? i'd have to google again. when was full house? my monster in law watched that tripe-ugh. but then, she watches lifetime and hallmark channels religiously. |

Some might disagree - but IMO - Worst of 1980's was "The Dukes of Hazzard"
There were many really good shows, but I'd say "Dallas" starring Larry Hagman as JR was a classic - a must watch on Friday evenings - followed by "Falcon Crest" starring/Jane Wyman |

That's awesome. When I saw Anchorman, with my husband and brother, we were the only three people in the theater (yay for 11AM showings). I have never heard the two of them laugh so hard.

It's Your Move - Jason Bateman - ty for the cancellation that led David Garrison to head off for Married with Children
We've Got It Made - Eye Candy again for stupidity. Small Wonder mentioned already Webster Charles in Charge I would like to try to be stabbed again, but loved Dallas, and Knots Landing, so I can't throw that out there. |
despite what your common sense may tell you, the last year of the 80's was 1990. we all went through this argument at the new millennium (it was 2001, not 2000. you can look it up.).
using that i'll double shoehorn the fantastically weird and creative first season of twin peaks into this discussion of bad tv. it was one of the best things network tv ever gave us. log lady's and cherry pies. the descent into whatever the second season was i blame on bad acid and abc's insistence that a killer be identified. but even that can't take away the thrill of seeing the uncompromising weirdness of david lynch on network tv. |
