Cards hang in there

Cards still 1 game and a half up. Houston wins in 15 innings to keep their dream alive.
Phillies hang in there with a win in 14 innings to stay one game behind the Dodgers for the wildcard.
And the Dodgers pick up a game on the Padres.

Great games last night all around. Phillies, Cards and Astros all pull out huge wins. Padres falter and lose a game.

4 games left. All the Astros can do is keep winning and pray the Cards lose 2.

Actually Tim that alone won't do it. The Cards would then get to play a makeup game with a chance to win for a tie and a playoff. Astros are two games out in the loss column. Its a tall order. They need to win all 4 remaining games, hope the Cards lose two. And then hope the cards lose another one in the makeup game to avoid the playoff.
Still pretty good drama.
I'm finding the Phillies vs the Dodgers a little more interesting.
We could get a playoff game for the wildcard there.

Dont forget about San Diego. They are only 1 game up on the Dodgers and could potentially have to get in through the wildcard. Its all very exciting and a good appetizer before the real games begin. I'm very much looking forward to next week. Playoff games on every afternoon & night then next weekend its a very huge day of racing at Belmont.

Tim thats why I won't be going to Belmont. I'll be manning the remote control and flipping back and forth from racing to baseball to college football.
I am thinking about shooting down to the Meadowlands the night before the big day at Belmont though. They have 6 stakes races inculding the Pegasus(which should be a full field with good betting due to the ducking of the Jerome and the JCGC by three year olds). I absolutely love night tbred racing at the Meadowlands. Its one of the most fan friendly places you can visit. Easy to get to, parkiing is free and close to the track entrance, and plenty of places to hang out and watch the races without paying an arm and a leg for a good seat. Its a real treat, and I try to go at least once a year. WHy not on the night with 6 stakes races and the Pegasus?

Oh man, that sounds like fun. I love night racing as well. Never been to the Meadowlands, but I have been to Hollywood Park a few times for the Friday night cards. We are going to shoot down to Belmont on the 7th and stay the weekend, have not been there since I was a kid.

I've always liked the Meadowlands meet. While some people go out and get trashed on Friday nights, me as a nerd likes to stay in and watch the races from the Meadowlands.

I like that better than going out on a Friday Night Tim. Look at it this way, if you go out you are guranteed to drop 100 bucks, and wake up tired with a hangover.
You can take the same 100 and put in your account, bet the races at the Meadowlands on a Friday night, and perhaps wake up with more money the next morning. And even if you lose the 100 bucks, you won't wake up hungover and tired.
I think that one is a no brainer myself.
The only day I like to have a few beers anymore is Sunday. You have a few(dozen maybe, lol) and watch the football games and racing and baseball, and then at night you eat something and drink some water. Not so bad the next day. YOu can do it at a sports bar, a buddy's house, etc.
I guess I'm a nerd anymore as well.
But I simply can't do late night drinking anymore. The hangover the next day makes it a complete loss of a day. I'm not 21 anymore.

Yes I feel the same way. I'll be dropping some money in my NYRA account pending that I do okay at the races on Oct 7th. I went golfing last weekend at 9am and drank some beers while I was playing which was a big mistake. I got home at like 2:30 and was so tired it ruined the rest of my Saturday and even on Sunday I woke up tired and blah. My drinking days are prertty much history. When I go to Belmont I'll have a few Heineken drafts (I like those) and appreciate some of the best talent out there. Good luck at the Meadowlands, I need to make it out there sometime.
