11/14: Aqueduct ($89k Dbl C/O)

Despite enjoying a nice snapback Sunday after a poor Saturday, pair of 4/6 carryover attempts was maddening. HollyPark sequence went to 2 clever players for $235k each, but a residual $89,500 double C/O is in place at the Big A this afternoon. As discussed with Andy Serling on Tuesday ATR, there could be enough spots for narrowing to enable appropriate spreads in the quandary events.

AQUEDUCT

POST-SCRATCHES

4th: MDN CLM, 3+, 1m (P6, P3, DD)

$89k double P6 C/O starts here..

As Andy said, there's a lot of 'go to' karma involved on Jason Servis & Jose Lezcano with Magic Harbor (SCR'D). He's the most consistent player in this weak group, but it's always distressing to lean on a maiden that runs similar races in MCLM ranks that they did v. MSW foes and still lose. Drops to lowest level, moves T2D and adds top pilot. Now or never. Doubt I've used two many Persaud runners in P6's, but can't help but notice that Know This turned into an actual horse when getting Lasix first time 2 weeks ago. Will be ignored.

Best Value: #10 Crushin Rock 10-1 6th
Next Best: #8 Praetorian Guard 4-1 WON ($5.80)
Exotics Use: #11 Know This 10-1 2nd
Super Add: #5 Tactical Saenz 6-1 4th

5th: NYSS, 3+, 7f (G/S, P3, DD)

You almost have to live and die with Sportswriter to build affordable tickets, but 7f is a different animal and strange things happen to pure three quarter types at this testing trip..

Most Likely: #2 Sportswriter 1-4 WON ($2.40)
Best Value: #7 Maggie's Hadder 10-1 3rd
Next Best: #1 Game Token 8-1 4th
Exotics Use: #5 Frisky Warrior 6-1 5th

6th: NY-MDN CLM, 2yo-F, 6f (P4, P3, DD)

As Andy and I mentioned, this is a weird agglomeration of misfit fillies including 3 nondescript FTS and 6 second time starters which exit 4 different races. Watch if the AE's get in as the 13 and 14 are as viable as the rest of this whatnot..

Best Value: #6 Wild Child 15-1 7th
Next Best: #2 Dee Dee's Comet 12-1 10th
Exotics Use: #4 Boldchildsrevenge 7-2 5th
Super Add: #7 T C Lane 3-1 9th

7th: OC/C, F&M-3+, 6f (P3, DD)

Solid set and agree wholeheartedly with Andy that with no shortage of speed lined up, Royal Sighting should get an ideal stalk and go trip under Ramon..

Most Likely: #4 Royal Sighting 3-1 WON ($9.10)
Best Value: #5 Funky Munky Mama 8-1 5th
Next Best: #8 Natalie Victoria 5-2 4th
Exotics Use: #7 Catinatree 6-1 3rd

8th: NY-OC/C, 3+, 1m (DD)

There are races that you look at and you feel like you aren't going to figure it out confidently no matter what you do. This is one of those for me. Roaring Conquest isn't anything special but feels like the most likely with anything close to the off turf win at Belmont two back. Southbeachsandy is a consistent sort but 0/7 at the trip, albeit with 4 placements. Bullnose Brick is preposterous, but he knows how to win, has races at FL and HOO that fit and may get an advantageous set up..

Most Likely: #7 Roaring Conquest 5-2 8th
Next Best: #5 Southbeachsandy 3-1 4th
Best Value: #1 Bullnose Brick 15-1 3rd
Exotics Use: #9 What's the Record 6-1 WON ($8.50)

9th: NY-MSW, 2yo, 8.5f-T

Turf listed as 'good' to start the day..

Best Value: #8 Captain Gaughen 8-1 3rd
Next Best: #7 Gulltopper 7-2 DNF
Exotics Use: #1 Ego Friendly 4-1 6th
Super Add: #2 Noosh's Tale 30-1 WON ($111.50)

<$150 P6 Play:

4: 4-5-8-9-10-11
5: 2
6: 2-4-6
7: 4
8: 5-7
9: 7-8

3x1x3x1x4x2 = 72 x $2 = $144

<$75 P4 Play:

6: 2-4-6-7
7: 4-5
8: 1-5-7
9: 1-2-3-5-7-8

4x2x3x6 = 144 x .50 = $72

Good luck!
Steve

BOL Steve, I'm taking a stab as well. PK6 - 5 / 2 / 3 7 / 2 4 7 8 / 2 / 5 8 = $32

AQU SCR/CHG'S

Huge SCR's as #3 Magic Harbor comes out of the 4th and #6 Face the Race exits the 9th...

ADJMK 11-14-2012 01:56 PM

That was quick. Showing the head on replay as they post the official sign.
Of course or old friend Randy P. jumps up and finally wins a race.

Was prepared for Persaud's Know This in the 4th, who ran well, but not for this one in the 6th.

$126,543.00 for the P6..

$8,293.75 (.50) for the P4..

In what galaxy are 4th choices "great selections?"

Steve, if you have time could you tell me what you saw in Noosh's Tale in the last race. Great selection.

Dave.

As Bos mentions above, discussed on radio Wednesday that strictly from a pedigree standpoint and as a big price, Noosh's Tale was a horse you probably wanted to include in your plays somehow. As a half to Yield Bogey he had plenty of license to put it together at some point and the prior two starts were not to be held against him with the off turf and saddle slip incident. As Andy points out, I hardly expected him to win and didn't bet him straight, but since it was a modest field, it was a good place to tinker and use a seemingly impossible type.

when they pay $111.50 and you go 4 deep it would be the Milky Way galaxy.

From the guy who puts out 5 or 6 hosses in most races ? Too much time using public transportation, which in Boston, is for people who don't own a car.

Really classless to bust anyone about losing picks. It is a tough game in which we participate.

Are you kidding me. Andy makes fun of everyone that disagree's with his opinion. I have never figured out if just his shtick or if he's really as arrogant as he comes across. Either way what goes around comes around.

how is that busting someone about losing picks ? Surly was downplaying Byks awesome spotting of a 50-1 shot, who he had as an exotics use, just because he was 4th on the 4 hoss totem pole. Meanwhile he lists 5 or 6 hosses every race.

Oh and it's not schtick, he was that arrogant even as a teenager.

Andy doesn't list 5 or 6 horses a race, which you know. But aren't you the mook that advised boxing 5 horses in triples every race?

I'm confused.

spending $30 and boxing 5 hosses in 12-14 hoss fields can be very profitable./

just went on talking hosses website. For friday in races 1 3 4 5 6 8 he has 5 selections, in race 9 he has 6. Care to respond mr. Hoss ?

He's too stupid to realize I am just doing my job, and giving extra picks to facilitate things for people in the TV truck in the case of scratches, as those picks are sent in at least two days in advance. Of course, I don't even give myself credit when I pick winners, much less EVER pat myself on the back for 2nd through 4th choices that might win. I am doing what is required for my job. Personally, I wouldn't give out choices at all, as the actual point is to stimulate discussion of the races, but the customers want picks, 1-4 for superfecta races, and the customer's needs come first.

blackthroatedwind 11-16-2012 09:44 AM

I wish people would go back and listen to Tuesday's show when this horse came up. Steve didn't endorse him, I talked about how I had lost money on the horse, and said that it hadn't shown an ability to run, something proven in its pps. NEVER did anyone either pick him or condemn his chances, he was merely mentioned as a part of the race, a race where the horse I selected was SCRATCHED.

The haters in this thread are laughable. Sorry if some of you have never argued about races with your friends ( we know at least one in this discussion has none ). I've done it all my life....and I'm not about to stop because some jealous crybabies in this thread don't like it. Judging by our audience for Talking Horses, many people that actually bet ( our intended audience ) would disagree with the haters here. To each their own.
