Greatest Group Of Horses Ever To Race Against Each Other In One Race

The "Ladies"Classic may be the most competitive, most accomplished field ever assembled in one race!
Tell me when you had 3 Breeders' Cup champs with an additional runner up(Grace Hall) 8 multiple Gr.1 winners and every horse a multiple graded winner with one exception(Class Included)who record is 16-10-6-0 never worst than 2nd! :zz:

Let alone other stakes races, the 95 distaff field would have humiliated this field.

I would think that wins in the specific BC race would trump wins in other BC races, especially Juvenile events. It isn't like 3 winners of the Ladies Classic are lining up to face off this year. With that in mind, the 1988 Sprint and Mile have to be in the mix since both of those races contained two past/future winners of the same event.

How about the Jockey Club Gold Cup in 1978 with Exceller, Affirmed, and Seattle Slew? Or the 79 version with Affirmed, Spectacular Bid and Coastal?

The Ladies Classic is a very good race but the idea it is the best group of horses ever assembled in crazy.

What sucks about this thread is because the premise is so flawed you are force to not talk about what a rock solid field of Distaffers have been assembled and instead shiiit on the the premise of the post.

the 95 distaff had inside information, lakeway, serenas song, heavenly prize and mariahs storm.

and a few other pretty decent types.

FATPIANO 10-25-2012 09:14 AM

How about 1980 Maskette
  1. Bold n Determinrd
  2. Genuine Risk
  3. Love Sign
  4. Davona Dale

Rupert Pupkin 10-25-2012 09:15 AM

What about the 2004 BC Classic where you had Ghostzapper, Roses in May, and Pleasantly Perfect? None of the fillies in this year's Distaff could have gotten within 5 lengths of the winner in that 2004 BC Classic.

Then Don't Post

I just ask the question,I did comment on what a great field this is and I didn't say that a Mare in this race could beat anybody who has ever ran!

Gentleman and Running Stag were the other two in that field.

Running Stag was 104/1 and was going 1st time lasix in the race. He was a tough globe trotting bleeder whose connections liked to run him here.

this was my favorite breeders cup to date.

How many 104-1 shots do you see run 107 Beyers? That kind of BSF would make him odds on in most races now.

Calzone Lord 10-25-2012 12:54 PM

Yeah -- the Beyer figures for top class older males have really shrunk.

Running Stag was a very good horse here on lasix.

Here he is battling with Behrens and Real Quiet in the '99 Mass Cap.

He won the Brooklyn Handicap by 7+ lengths over Sir Bear and Golden Missile next time out getting 9fs in 1:46.20 and he won the Mass Cap the following year.
