Ugly race at Hoosier

The 3-to-5 favorite broke down on the lead -- and one of the trailing horses clipped the fallen rider. A 43-to-1 shot winner emerged with a 42/1 shot second place finisher.

Looked to me like Amoss' horse broke down in the 3rd as well. Tuesday racing ain't pretty.

I really hope it wasn't one of your bums that won.

Nah, the winner had a trainer change and had by far the best late pace figure in the field.

I'm determined to see the bums through to a 0-for-1,000 record and beyond. If I get to 5,000 in a row -- I might even contact Guinness.

Do they only use "broke down" for those they euthanize immediately and "pulled up, vanned off" for the ones who survive long enough to leave the track? Or does broke down ever get applied to some that they take off the track in an ambulance?
