Four out of six Breeders Cups held at Santa Anita. The other two at Churchill.

If this was not horse racing that would be strange.

handicapperernie 08-08-2012 03:48 PM

the bc has slowly but surely starting to suck

helicopter11 08-08-2012 03:58 PM

Where do you guys propose they have the BC at other than CD or SA?

Monmouth was told to reapply for 2014. Dunno the particulars as to why they couldn't do it in 2013. They've had to make the adjustments to host it before. Surely it isn't something that takes two years to get together when Santa Anita can go back to dirt from synthetic sooner than that. What could they possibly have to build or provide that would take that long? Sounds like the decision was already made.

If I didn't know any better, I'd think they're trying to gradually wean us off of different sites til it's almost entirely at Santa Anita, say 2/3 to 3/4 of the time, with maybe an occasional off year as a bone thrown to someone else, generally Churchill. Didn't Satish want us at one track? Wasn't it there partially because of things like the weather? I had a feeling something like this was gonna happen when Monmouth got turned down. If the horsemen want more rotation, I hope this isn't anybody playing games as a backdoor to a primary/permanent host track. This isn't saying SA is anything other than a great host, but it's rather frustrating to see them get it yet again, not long after the discussion about a permanent vs. rotating track system.

oh yeah forgot belmont which should've gotten 2013 year and then monmouth 2014. 2015 up for grabs like saratoga or del mar (if they go back to dirt)

skippy3481 08-08-2012 06:04 PM

The breeders cup is never going to be at Saratoga.

Why did you give that away? I thought it would be fun to see how long it would take Ernie to figure that out.

hi_im_god 08-08-2012 06:23 PM

the del mar turf course can only hold 10 starters. i heard at one time they might widen it to accomodate 14 but until that happens they can't host a bc.

skippy3481 08-08-2012 06:45 PM

i thought he would argue with me....

declansharbor 08-08-2012 06:50 PM

Parx 2014!! :rolleyes::D

handicapperernie 08-08-2012 06:55 PM

if tracks want to host bc then it would require alot of work. wish gulfstream would host it again but idk if it'll ever happen again since stronach changed that place big time

I'm thinking my home track... Indiana downs... average temperature in nov. is about 50. We don't have a grandstand... but we do have several very nice benches and a playground for the kids. The apron can hold at least 1k people. The track is similar in composition to asphalt, but that makes for fast times. Plus, if the breeders cup comes... all the horses that normally run in nov. can go back to their day jobs of plowing fields for the next year.

It's a win win for all

arlington? and what about florida tracks? i know more than once people have said hialeah. that would be fabulous!

Now that's a solid argument for the BC to consider!
