Any help would be appreciated

My father was taking me to Detroit Race Course when I was eight years old. I was able to read the racing form and he really developed my passion for horse racing. Well after four years in the service, getting out and establishing my career and starting a family I started to renew my passion for handicapping. I feel that handicapping has passed me up. My father was big on Daily Doubles, Trifectas and straight WPS wagering. I have been trying my hand at multi-race wagering but have little sucess and when I do build a ticket I have a hard time developing a reasonably priced ticket. Of late I havent been having much sucess and my confidence is wavering.
Any advice on money management, how you approach multi-race wagering, how many cards you attempt on the day you choose to wager and etc... would be greatly appreciated. :D

For multi race wagering, read Steve Crist, Exotic Betting.

Handicapping is an entire different animal, but I really believe the wagering concepts in there are invaluable. GL

you have to take a stand in at least a race or two...and for me that means a single...if you can't find a single then don't play the sequence...play your single and then take some shots....i've gotten some great scores this year by playing 1x4x4x4x4 or something along those lines pick 5's

Maybe you should work your way up. Start with doubles, then when you feel comfortable move on to pick 3's and up the ladder.

Agree with this logic...............would also consider using simple exactas on individual races. The nice thing about both of these wagers is that you can monitor the payouts to make sure you're getting value for your choices. Crist also explains the better way to play exactas rather than settling for boxes in his book---------Exoctic Betting is a great read.

You are right Tanner. I feel sometimes I make the mistake if twinspires is doing a 1,000,000 point promotion for the late pick 4 that i have to play it even if I can't come up with a single. Really sometimes feel my poor bank roll management is sometimes my downfall. Thanks for the reply
