Danedream

Today, this 4-year-old filly became the first female in history to win both the King George and the Arc.

Anyone have a link to see the race? Thanks.

Great race! Found it interesting that the top 3 finishing jocks all were giving suspensions for abusive whipping. Watching the replays i did notice Starke on Danedream hit his mare @6 times in the final 1/8th mile. Starke was given 7 days...Buick riding Nathaniel given 2 days. Honestly it looked like he hand rode Nathaniel the final 1/8th after a couple of stern whips a 1/4 mile out. O'Brien riding St. Nicholas Abbey was also given a 7 day suspension. I only saw him strike Nicholas a few times in the final furlong.. Not knowing the rules regarding excessive whipping over seas i have no argument..just found it interesting....

The rules are quite strenuous, they were amended a few months ago after being brutally strenuous to now just quite strenuous...but not sure the exact #s

So good to see this filly back on her game. Her Arc win last year was monstrous.

i did a search and found this:

'Rather than it being an automatic breach when a rider uses the whip eight times on the Flat and nine times over jumps, the figures become the trigger point for the stewards to review the ride in question.

Stewards will then consider how the rider has used the whip in the course of exceeding the allowed number before deciding whether a breach has occurred and a penalty is warranted.'

Yeah, there were daily suspensions of multiple riders and it wasn't changing, so they threatened boycotts and the like...so it was amended.
