Analyzing Race 6 at Belmont (July 1)
 

To me, it comes down to 4 horses (all with negatives of their own)

#7 Missysmonlitmagic...she beat maidens at Saratoga last year in, what seems to me, a perfect trip; sitting on the rail in the garden spot. Since then she hasn't shown much against state bred allowance horses. They may be giving up on her, putting her in for a 16k tag.

#9 The Winged Venus...has nice turf breeding but hasn't been competitive in two races for 20k (nw 2 lt).

#10 Night Brigade....excellent turf rider; hot trainer, but is 1 for 22. Always looks like a winner but can't close the deal.


My pick:
#3 Rough Winter.....at least has won at this track, this year. A little longer distance may help

Might have gotten 2nd had husbands used the stick a little bit.
