Just Got Done..great Idea That Needed To Get Done.

Its about time this happened.

they'll still screw this up. they'll match the 2 SEC schools against each other and 2 scrubs against each other. that will ensure the SEC does NOT get 2 teams in the championship again.:tro:

While It would be cool to see an 8 team playoff.. you cant have teams play much more football than they do now. Its too rough of a game. 4 teams works out well.

Six with 2 opening round byes.

BCS Commissioners still get to keep their money.

Sure, the playoff features the same old faces cashing the same old checks and laughing at the unpaid players as the sun slowly sets over the same old golf course verandas, the ice smoothing out the complimentary bourbon.

The business of college football still is about the absurdity of the rich getting richer, of the hypocrisy getting compartmentalized, of the bosses accepting the kind of kickbacks they'd suspend a player 100 years for even considering.

Hey, at least we finally got a little playoff, though. At least they stopped lying that this was impossible. At least the foolishness didn't stand in the way of the games. For the most part, it's all the fans wanted. Go count your money, boys. Of course it's obscene, but the games are fun. We don't ask for much. So just keep remembering to throw us a bone sometimes, would ya?

i give an over/under of 3 years before at least one 1 loss team gets in ahead of the lower ranked team that beat them. or an undefeated boise state like team.

it's not the same as when the basketball committee is deciding over teams 62-65 and leaving someone out. they'll be plenty of room for debate about who didn't make the cut and should have.

I'm not sure I get this. They do it in every other division in the NCAA....16 plus teams.

You can't compare football to the other sports.

It is a entirely different game than pretty much any other NCAA sport... besides rugby.

a 16 team playoff would be detrimental to the health of the football players. These kids are 18 - 22 years old. I think the only way the NCAA could pull it off would be to cut back on regular season games if they want a 16 team playoff.

Its the same reason the NFL players are against an 18 game schedule.

it's still bs, and still will be decided by a popularity contest. it's wrapped in a pretty package, but it is essentially worthless and not an improvement over the previous system.

Now the sec can have 4 teams going for the championship. I'm still in favor of having to win your conference.

8 team playoff can be done by getting rid of the conference championship games.

that will never happen. remember when auburn was left out of the game at #3 a few years back? i think the only reason the schools signed on to this is that they were assured steps would be taken to make sure certain areas would be represented....
they still won't have the best four-politics will still play a role, which completely destroys the purpose of a 'playoff'. this is a pseudo-playoff. but, like i told my husband, people will watch regardless of what they do-or don't do.

1AA has been a 16 team playoff for a long time and D2 & D3 have been 16 plus for several years. the other divisions do it D1 should too! the conference championships are the first week in Dec. you just keep playing. higher seed gets a home game, rotate the championship game between the 4 or 5 old bowl games. championship game is NY's Day like it used to be and stop dragging it out to the first or second week in Jan.
