U.S. Open

Looking forward to this week. Since I didn't make it in this year:rolleyes:, we can find others worth a few bucks at long odds.

Las Vegas Hotel Superbook Odds:

Carl Petterson 100/1 (just a gut feeling, though it could be gas)

Ernie Els 60/1 (Playing much better this year, than last year. 2 time winner of US Open)

Kyle Stanley 125/1 (Fantastic iron game and with small greens, just getting hot with the putter will make him dangerous. He could also shoot 78-78 and be trunk slamming on Friday afternoon)

Joe Durant 12-1 field bet on this sight but saw him at 125/1 on another. (Tours best ball striker. Like Stanley, all he needs is a warm/hot week with his putter and he could surprise.)

I'll be rooting for this kid :)

My ever popular and awful 10 for the us open (I robbed two of yours Kev!)

Levin 249-1
Ogilvy 129-1
Watney 149-1
Mickelson 26-1
Furyk 37-1
Byrd 84-1
Baddeley 109-1
DA Points 289-1
Durant 999-1
Stanley 259-1

One of my favorite events to watch. I love seeing who can stand up to the adversity the USGA set-up gives them. These guys are so used to shredding tour courses, some can't deal with shooting over par very well.

I like Jason Dufner's attitude.

"To be honest I've been a little disappointed in the setup the last couple of years," Dufner says. "I'd like to see longer, thicker rough. I want it to be as hard as possible. That takes half the field out of it right away because they'll be bitching about it and already beaten mentally. I don't care how hard it is, it's not going to bother me."

Seems Bubba is not happy....

"As of right now, I don't like it,'' reigning Masters champion Bubba Watson said after getting his first look at the course. "I don't want to come out here and shoot 80.''

Any of your scores from the Michigan trip put you in contention?:D

So good to see Tiger playing golf, again.

He completely talked himself into that round. Mental midget today.

Another high school kid did quite well today, though. Beau Hossler shot even par and is T-7th.

Westwood just hit the 2nd worst tee shot (18th hole) with an iron that I have ever seen a tour pro make:wf

Wow, that was awful.

The first round of the Open furthers my opinion that the world golf rankings are nearly meaningless. The top 3 shoot +17.
I truly hope TW wears the place out, and guys like Watney & Stanley finish top 10.

Bubba is going to be o.k. He's too manic to be one of the all time greats but he'll get his share simply because his highs will be good enough. The problem is when you're manic there usually isn't enough of them.

Tiger is a little manic but not on the course, per se. He's manic over p.ussy.

OK, what was the worst one? The shanked 2 iron OB at the 88 British Open by Steve Lowery?

TheSpyder 06-15-2012 06:07 PM

BEAU HOSSLER :eek::zz::eek:

What the?

What's so bad about that?:)

Worst one has to be Calc's shank on the 17th tee, Kiawah Island, '91 Ryder Cup in his epic choke in the Sunday singles to Montgomerie. Worst. Shank. Ever.

You playing much, T?

3 Hammer Times and T-18th.

somerfrost 06-16-2012 11:16 AM

Tiger playing very smart golf the first two rounds, had some bad breaks and missed some short putts but sure looks like himself finally.

MinnSkinny 06-17-2012 03:08 AM

Impossible to pick the winner with one round to go. Double bogies can happen anywhere at Olympic. My hunch says Dufner or McDowell.
My heart wants Hossler.

Kevin I'm playing 5/6 days a week now, fills up my time these days since Nancie passed away, but not playing very well.
