Walt Disney Company is unfair and socialist!

The Walt Disney Co. on Tuesday became the first major media company to ban ads for junk food on its television channels, radio stations and websites, hoping to stop kids from eating badly by taking the temptation away.

Yeah, we'll see how long that lasts. Those broccoli commercials are just rolling in about now...

That's not socialist since a company can decide to do whatever it wants - and bear the consequences. Another channel will reap the rewards, as market forces will push up the price to advertise on those channels, since the supply of advertising space for those companies is diminished.

Not smart business for Disney: the loss in advertising revenue is measurable, but the supposed effect of their not advertising junk food on the weight of kids over the next few years is not. And, even if it was measurable, it doesn't add a penny of profit to Disney's financial reports.

One question to you, Joey:

Your and my tax money goes to helping pay for lunches for poor, hungry students at schools. That's a very good thing.

Do you want our tax dollars to purchase, for that student's lunch:

1. potato chips and Coca-Cola
2. chicken and vegetables
3. either at the discretion of the student

I go with "2". My tax dollars should not be able to be used to purchase potato chips and Coca-cola. Only chicken and vegetables.

What did you pick?
