No work for I'll Have Another pre-Belmont
http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-raci...l-have-another
This should be interesting. Bloodhorse cited the works by the last 3 TC winners for comparison. Who's taken O'Neill's approach in the past, and if so, how'd they fare in the Belmont? |
How many horses have come to Belmont with 2 TC wins, worked out, and lost ?
|
How many Preakness winners have run the Belmont without a published work?

I have no concern with the lack of a timed workout. I am concerned with the length of his gallops+pre-gallop jog. We know he keeps himself sharp with those gallops, but they are only 7 to 8 furlongs (plus the distance pulling up) with a half-mile jog before he gets rolling. Considering the beast that is the Belmont Stakes, I am surprised O'Neill hasn't extended everything just a bit, such as a full mile jog leading into (at least) 9 furlongs for IHA's strong gallops (I'd prefer 10-11). Obviously, toning it back in the final 3-5 days would be sensible.
I nitpick regimens for big races and this is the only hole I've been able to poke in O'Neill's regimen for I'll Have Another the entire Triple Crown trail. |
I honestly haven't heard a peep about I'll Have Another in the last 10 days.
