Gelded brothers

The two horses that I consider to be the two best older male two-turn horses in the country right now are a pair of gelded brothers in the Charlie Lepestri barn.

Wise Dan has won 3 straight Graded Stakes. He took the Grade 2 Fayette at KEE by 4 lengths, the Grade 1 Clark Handicap at Churchill by 4 lengths, and the Grade 3 Ben Ali by 10.5 lengths.

Successful Dan is 7-for-10 lifetime. He won an allowance race in April off of an 18 month layoff. Last time out, he won the Alysheba with a 110 Beyer drawing away late. The consistent Mucho Macho Man was 3rd by 7 lengths with a perfect trip in the field of 8.

Wise Dan is by Wiseman's Ferry. Successful Dan is by Successful Appeal. The mother of both horses is Lisa Danielle. She was an Illinois bred who won just once in seven career starts.

I'm the only one of the five boys who isn't currently siring at a rapid rate.

Freddymo and RockHardTen are the breeders.

It's just like the intro to Idiocracy. The dumbfuks breed and the smarter people wait. Wait too long.

I just wated to say 1. that I love this thread and 2. that I'm wondering if the Dans had a third, idiot brother what his name would have been.

Seriously though, great thread.

Bumping a thread that's from May here...but I think a lot of people will forget how good of a race horse Successful Dan was.

One of the absolute best dirt route performances all year was Successful Dan's win in the Alysheba in May, before he got hurt.

Here is the replay:

http://www1.drf.com/displayVideo.do?...=D&country=USA

Fort Larned had a very good trip and finished 2nd.

Mucho Macho Man had a very good trip and finished a well beaten 3rd.

It was a city block back to the 4th place finisher -- and that race graded out so tremendously on everyones numbers.

With Fort Larned and Mucho Macho Man running a breakaway 1st and 2nd in the BC Classic yesterday, it highlights the point.

Vol Jack called me up a few days before the BC and we were talking about how we both wished Successful Dan was around for the Classic. Vol Jack really liked Fort Larned yesterday (I didn't) ... hopefully he made a score.
