Gregg Williams

What exactly did he do wrong?

It's not like he was coaching youth football -- or even high school football.

These NFL players and coaches are all paid and it's a competitive business. If you think you can gain an edge on Frank Gore by contacting his head - do it. If you think you can gain an edge on Crabtree's ACL - do it.

If you want to reward injuries with "cash bounties" ... so what?

Did anyone watch that playoff game, by the way? The Saints defense sucked and they didn't exactly look physical or dirty either.

Where are the stats that show the Saints defense injures players at a higher rate than other NFL defenses? Where are the stats that show Saints defensive players being fined more as a group than other defenses for illegal hits? I've yet to see any of them.

I believe your answer is he simply got caught. That's it. It is nearly impossible to believe the Saints locker room is the only place this goes on in the NFL.

He was dumb enough to talk about it, in front of a camera, after he had been warned about it by the NFL a few times.

i don't think the nfl is concerned only because of bounties.

the saints lied to investigators and did everything they could to get out of any trouble in the initial investigation, which the nfl finally closed.
then they continue to do what they'd been investigated for-not a cunning plan.
then there's the fact that former players are now filing suits over injuries; the nfl cannot in any way show a lack of policing on things like this. they certainly want to avoid having to pay millions now and in future to players.

sure it's happened elsewhere, but i'm sure the nfl wants that to now only be a part of their past.

Did he have to talk about going after someone's acl? Maybe a little too far?

Everytime Tom Brady was in the pocket for more than two seconds in the Super Bowl I was yelling "Break his fucl<ing neck!"

Talk is cheap.

The Saints played defense like a finesse dome team every time I watched them last year.

When your QB throws for over 5k yards and you're only playing on wildcard weekend...your defense isn't doing so hot.
