WOW...huge day, that's insane!!! Never-mind FG Oaks day is the following day, then Sunday with LA Derby, NO Handicap and other assorted stakes all weekend. 3 Day marathon of racing for closing weekend. I'm not sure I can handle all the fun, I'll have to pace myself...!!!!

which i could be there but will be working that week-end:mad:

I'm heading down to the help them out in a few areas. I think on Friday night I'll be working the "Beer Garden" to help people learn how to bet. Fair trade, right? Give me a beer, and I'll give you a horse. 18 races later... we're all having fun.

What's the most races you've called in a day? Would you want to do 18?

I called 14 quarter horse trials the other day. But that's a different ballgame than t-bred races.

18 is a lot of races for everyone involved... from the announcer to the officials to the pony people and their horses etc.

It seems like quarter horses would be much harder to call!

The people on the backside are furious about it. I imagine their announcer is excited beyond belief.

I'm sure everyone that is working is not happy. That's a long day, and Starlight racing is always packed plus final four is in town. It's going to be a long, hard weekend for everyone that is working backside to front. That being said, I'm going to have a really fun weekend as a fan, but I feel for them. I'm sure there will be a collective sigh of relief for the last race on Sunday.

Tough to dampen Dooley's enthusiasm.

What's your prediction on the pool size? Will it be hit? If not, how low will they have to go to find a winner?

A few thousand probably, considering they haven't promoted it. Can't even guess as to your second question. I have enough trouble picking four.

Calzone Lord 03-30-2012 11:39 AM

If they made it a 1-cent Pick 18 I'm not sure it would be hit.

Correct me if I'm wrong --- but wouldn't a 1-cent Pick 18 using 3 horses in each race cost a bettor $3,874,204.89

They should have made the bet a 1-cent bet with a minimum ticket price of $1.

A 10-cent Pick 18 is impossible to hit.

Your numbers are right, Calzone.

I think you have to attack that one with 17 singles, and then the all button!:p

Maybe Track Phantom will pop it that way.
