Moss is running in New Orleans today

Only the stop-watch knows...but I hope he's back and runs 4.30 like he's insisted he recently has, can, and will.

hearing from multiple sources re Randy Moss workout today he lit it up. Was told he ran about 45 routes and "looked like the old Randy." -- Jay Glazer (@JayGlazer)

From what I gather all parties were pretty floored by his workout. Probably didn't expect him to perform the way he did -- Jay Glazer (@JayGlazer)

Yeah we'll see how it goes. A year off will make him look like Michael Jordan with the Wizards.

Size, speed, hands, long arms, body control and leaping ability. It sounds like he will certainly be a starter on opening day for someone.

Let’s get this straight: We’re supposed to believe Randy Moss — who celebrated his 35th birthday Monday, mind you — can run the 40 faster than Julio Jones (4.39) and A.J. Green (4.48) did at the 2011 NFL Scouting Combine?

“I believe the guy,” Evans said. “I trained with this guy in the offseason. He is a nightmare to work out with. Many guys came in and out of those workouts, and they never showed up again. This guy knows how to get it done.”
He's only started two seasons in his entire career where he came into the season with anyone at all doubting him.

His rookie year. He caught 17 TD's with a backup QB. He led the Vikings to a 15-1 record. Highest scoring team in NFL history.

His 2007 season...off a horrible year in Oakland. He caught an NFL record 23 TD's on a perfect 16-0 team that blew almost everyone out in the regular season. That team broke the '98 Vikings NFL record for points scored in a season.

Only guy in history to be on the roster of both a 16-0 and 15-1 team ... and he was far and away the leading scorer of both teams. The two highest scoring teams in NFL history.

Every other season -- he started the year considered atleast one of the top 5 WR's in the sport. Most years he came in as the games #1 rated WR.

Whatever he has left...you're going to see the possessed Moss from '98 and '07 who is bitter as hell and holding a grudge against the world. He was furious after the '98 draft. His coach and GM in Oakland said he was washed up and couldn't play anymore after '06.

I cannot blame them for at least working him out. They will probably lose both Meachem and Colston, and this is a potential bargain option.

If he goes to the right team he's the best WR in the NFL right now. He could be the man until he's 39 with his skill set.

Not to mention their head coach, GM , multiple draft picks and several D guys after Goodell is done with them. But how do you put Williams down for a year without f'ing the Rams?

But it's not like they have had meetings/workouts with players and have already started installing defensive schemes. I guess it hurts them as far as the pool not being as deep now to replace a defensive cooridinator. I'm not sure how hot/appealing a position like this in St. Louis is anyway. Maybe the league could give the Rams a couple of late round picks as some sort of compensation. It's hard to think that Williams isn't going to be suspended for at least a year. The NFL doesn't like any sort of black eye and I could see them making an example (even though I think that this is a lot more common then they are making it seem)

Wide receivers don't get better as they get into their mid 30s. He was TERRIBLE in 2010. Not motivated? He was on the Patriots w/a Hall of Fame QB throwing him the ball. They got rid of him. How long did he last in Minnesota? One month? The situation in Tennessee wasn't any better.

MaTH716 03-12-2012 09:03 PM

Looks like San Fran.

Calzone Lord 03-12-2012 09:30 PM

The San Fran WR's had a combined total of just 1 catch for 3 yards in the NFC Championship game Overtime loss to the Giants.

I think Moss would have put up much better stats playing with Drew Brees, indoors, and getting into shoot-outs left and right. The 49ers are his best chance for a Super Bowl, though.

He's said he had nagging shoulder problems in his last season. At least you'll know right away if he's back ... because he's notoriously one of the fastest starters of any player at any position in NFL history. He's played on a whole bunch of teams that started off 4-0 and he's dominated a whole bunch of early season games.

I think New Orleans would have been a much better situation for him, just because they look to constantly air it out. Now he's going to a team that likes to run the ball, which mean less balls his way and more blocking assignments for him. Not sure how long Coach Harbaugh will deal with Moss not blocking downfield if he decides to do so.

Calzone Lord 03-12-2012 09:59 PM

Harbaugh must have been impressed with his tremendous blocking in his final season:

You're just jealous because gay horseplayers don't take interest in you.

Even Scuds never made a move on you.
