Gingrich predicted to win South Carolina

Exit polls show Gingrich winning markedly over Romney. Only question seems to be if he will get double digits, or not. This is a disaster for Romney, who figured he'd have it wrapped up by now. Turns out Romney lost Iowa, barely won NH, and now lost Carolina. Florida next week.

The DNC is very happy Newt is surging. This weeks polling data:

NATIONAL (ABC/Washington Post): Romney d. Obama (48-46); Obama d. Paul (49-42); Obama d. Santorum (52-41); Obama d. Gingrich (52-40)

NATIONAL (CNN/Opinion Research): Romney d. Obama (48-47); Obama d. Paul (48-46); Obama d. Santorum (51-45); Obama d. Gingrich (52-43)

NATIONAL (Fox News): Obama d. Romney (46-45); Obama d. Santorum (50-38); Obama d. Gingrich (51-37); Obama d. Romney w/a Ron Paul 3rd party bid (42-35-14)

NATIONAL (Pew): Obama d. Romney (50-45); Obama d. Romney and Ron Paul (44-32-18)

NATIONAL (PPP): Obama d. Romney (49-44); Obama d. Paul (47-42); Obama d. Gingrich (49-42); Obama d. Santorum (50-42); Obama d. Perry (51-40)

NATIONAL w/3RD PARTY (PPP): Obama d. Romney and Gary Johnson (47-40-7); Obama d. Romney and Stephen Colbert (41-38-13)

NATIONAL (Rasmussen): Obama d. Gingrich (47-38); Obama d. Santorum (48-38)

7pm Based on early exit polls, NBC News projects Gingrich as the winner of the primary, while former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney will finish second.

Nice comeback Newtster...happy for ya...;)

Good lord, Mittens is giving his speech now, and it's a victory speech! Good grief ... his team has to be completely incompetent. He's not even going after Newt. Karl Rove must have already assured him of overall victory, with the promise that the Bushies will take Newt out in Florida.

Riot 01-21-2012 07:48 PM

Wow. Romney loses every single SC district, and loses all 25 delegates.

Simply wow. The Republican Party is in complete disarray.

Ron Paul is the only way forward.

I would vote for Paul over Obama any day,

I agree with Paul about as often as I agree with Obama. Ron Paul is 'what you see is what you get' and Obama is as phony as most any other politician.

I think I stand to personally benefit a hell of a lot more from a strict libertarian than from Obama

George W. Bush (with a big assist from bible thumping Frist) made my life worse more than any other national politican I could imagine with the crap they snuck into the Safe Port Act. Pinnacle shut down for us, Betfair was made off-limit, the off-shore exchange went down. Bush and Frist stole tens of thousands of dollars from me and took away edges as far as I'm concerned.

Obama is basically George W. Bush Light without all of the fake Texas bravado...and Obama has personally tried to steal thousands of dollars from me with his cheap money programs that kill bank interest rates and make it tough on people who expect to earn on savings accounts instead of working standard employment.

If you want interest on your bank savings accounts and CD's -- Ron Paul is your best option. If you want to see gambling and gambling markets more open Internationally, Ron Paul is your best option. If you want to see issues like drugs and prostitution handled competently -- Ron Paul is your only option.

Santorum "glitter-bombed" at South Carolina Republican primary

Members of Occupy Charleston "glitter-bombed" Rick Santorum at the tail end of his speech here at the Citadel tonight.

The occupiers, mostly College of Charleston students, shouted "Occupy!" and threw green glitter in the direction of the podium. One of the students told BuzzFeed afterwards that "I got him in the face!"

Good looking bunch...

Protesters affiliated with the Occupy Wall Street movement are forcibly removed from a primary night event held by Republican presidential candidate, former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum after protesting Santorum's stance on gay-rights at the end of the rally.

South Carolina has about as much relevance to the national consciousness as the Pittsburgh Pirates do in determining the best team in the majors

Watch it bud, i take exception to your remark about the Pirates..Been a Pirate fan since the days of Ralph Kiner (who's he you ask..look him up).
Just because we've been in the basement for 20 years is no reason to compare them to South Carolina (btw, my son lives in Columbia)...and i still have my admission ticket to the first game of the 1960 World Series in which we kicked Yankee butt...Ok to compare SC to the Cleve Indians..:)

Emotion trumps reality as it often does at the expense of logic

No need for me to look Kiner up. The first baseball bat I ever picked up (around 1950 or so) was my older brother's Ralph Kiner model Louisville Slugger. Damn thing had a narrow handle and a huge head, like a war club!
Heavy as hell. We were Brooklyn Dodger fans, but respected Kiner, who used to kill the Dodgers.

Of course, he later became a NY Mets announcer (maybe still is), but the last time I heard him, he sounded like he had marbles in his mouth. Guess he's in his mid-80's, right?

What's the over/under on number of weeks before Newt self-destructs (again)? Gotta hand it to the guy; he's got more lives than a cat. He's also got a mouth on him bigger than Steven Tyler's, who flubbed the anthem at the game yesterday.

Two. Watching the self-styled elite, educated professor, 40-year Washington lobbyist insider sell himself to the Tea Party was pretty funny. But the Southern Strategy is all about one issue, and Newt has grabbed it, blew it and played it for the win.

Won't fly in Florida. But they have no other choices, as Mittens is so useless. Very sad, what this political party has come to.

A funny from Slate http://www.slate.com/slideshows/news...s-doodles.html

Newt, the self-styled Messiah, writes about himself:

These notes and doodles, handwritten by Newt Gingrich, appear in a series of exhibits appended to a report published on Jan. 17, 1997 by the House Select Committee on Ethics. The notes are mainly from the period leading up to his big 1994 victory. The text at left reads:

Gingrich—Primary Mission
—Advocate of civilization
—definer of civilization
—Teacher of the rules of civilization
—arouser of those who form civilization
—Organizer of the pro-civilization activists
—leader (possibly) of the civilizing forces.

Yowser. Those Republicans are all about voting fraud. Look what just happened in the Iowa GOP primary - votes from two districts just lost and never counted, the wrong candidate announced as a winner. And now this.

This is huge news. There are only 9 documented cases, in the last 20 years, of the wrong people actually being allowed to vote in a presidential election and prosecuted. So 900 in one state would be huge.

Mike, he will be 90 this Oct...

Despite a bout with Bell's palsy, which left him with slightly slurred speech, Kiner is still broadcasting, entering his fiftieth year of doing Mets broadcasts as of the start of the 2011 baseball season, though only as an occasional guest analyst..
