If Bauble Queen progresses a little more with racing she should be a significant player in all the major turf stakes for older horses in CA (for what that's worth). With Cozi Rosie and the 3 Shirreffs fillies shelved and Malibu Pier recently retired, she's in line to take a big leap forward. The 9f and 10f distances of the majority of stakes should also be in her favor.

That was quite a performance from Turbulent Descent.

Yeah, no kidding. What happened there?

$138k of the $178k in the show pool was bet on her.:wf

From the #2 post going 7 wide on the turn. Not sure if she could have even won if she had gotten a better ride but coming in second was in her scope if she had.

She didn't run....but that was some game plan. Take her back to last and swing five wide? What were they thinking? It's not like she's slow.

Look, maybe she can't run anymore, though she could two months ago, but given the ride she had NO chance.

Could they have thought they she was THAT much better than the others that she could win going that route? Obviously if she runs back to the Test, she handles them no problem, but she hasn't always run that race.

It certainly wasn't the strongest Grade 1 every assembled out there, but did you envision her going off at 1/2?

Yes, I did. On paper, she should have crushed that field. Relatively speaking, the winner couldn't warm her up ( on paper ).

Like I said, she did no running....but she also was given little chance. You don't ride assuming your best. You put them in position to win, and she certainly has enough speed that she shouldn't have been where she was early. Nothing infuriates me more than aggressive passivity.

Yeah, the 6-1 ML on the winner was puzzling, to say the least.

I would find it hard to believe that Puype would have instructed Flores to ride her in that manner. Probably the jockey just getting cute.
