26 Days til the best day in racing

26 days til Oct 7th - which in my opinion is going to be the best day of racing of the year (if everyone shows).

Does anyone know if there is going to be a NTRA pick 4 that day? At Belmont, is it going to be an all stakes pick 6? I am sure than Santa Anita will have a $1mm pick 6. How I would love to be able to attend each race at each track. But I will be at Keeneland all day long enjoying the races there. Man, I know I sound like a broken record but I havent been this pumped for a day of racing in a very very long time.

I can't wait!!!!!!!!!!

Being at Keeneland doesnt sound like such a bad thing. I'm sure you get the simulcast from Bel and SA. I will be at Belmont and yes it promises to be the best day of NYRA racing all year long. Way better than that chalkfest otherwise known as Travers Day. I got a grand that says the pick 4 will pay more than $58 on this day! LOL!

Yep, there's an NTRA pick4.. they could have just used Belmont races, but the other choices are good too: :)

Oct. 7 Pick 4 4:30-6:30 p.m. ET .

....Goodwood H. ----Oak Tree

. . Jockey Club Gold Cup ---Belmont Park . . .

. . Shadwell Turf Mile ----Keeneland . . .

. . Joe Hirsch Turf Classic ----Belmont Park

Here's the web site for the other NTRA P-4's being offered up to the Breeder's Cup:

I will be in Las Vegas for that weekend and I had no idea to the racing that was going to take place. Looks like a very good venue.

My girlfriend actually asked me to go to a Wedding on Breeders cup day. It has been the biggest fight of all time.

I'm glad I never have to worry about my boyfriend doing that! :D

Man, those are 4 good races. Thankfully they didnt choose a Polytrack race. I am with Gander that the pick 4 should pay more than $58. Two places where I love turf races are Keeneland and Belmont. Keeneland is a great place to go, but it is so freaking crowded that it isnt funny. We are getting there 1 hour before the doors open so we can get a good seat.

Just make sure you find a seat where the sun isn't in your eyes too! (not a big fan of Keeneland's set-up!)

Weddings are evil. Pure evil. Always seem to interfere with great racing days. I missed Preakness Day this year as well as Woodward/Forego day. Been to about 10 weddings in the last 2 years. The good thing is there are no more this year and as of know we have none planned for next year (Huge knock on wood).

I feel like a complete outcast at weddings. Always struggle to find good conversation. Never anybody that wants to talk horse racing.

I have been married for 33 years(to the same loving wife) and I have only 2 days a year that are off limits, Breeders Cup day and USC vs UCLA football game. The rest of the year I do what I got to do, yes dear I'm ready dear.

That is funny. I get 5 days a year. My wife told me this 3 hours after I asked her to marry me. I get get Ky Derby, Preakness, Belmont, Breeders Cup and 1 optional day. Rest of the year all I need to know is when to be ready and what I need to wear.

LOL. I hate to be late so I have learned to iron and dress myself.

Tim I'll be at Belmont that day also. We should meet up.

I have been told that I am not to iron or pick out my clothes ever again. I was told this during our 1st year of marriage. Oh and I cant stand be late. But the wife has no problem with lateness.

I absolutely loathe attending weddings. Its the same routine at all of them. My sister is getting married at the end of January and I can feel the stress already.

I feel you pain.. weddings and other family related events have forced me to miss a Preakness('05) and Belmont('06) the past two years.. and now, it looks like another event will force me to miss this year's Breeders Cup!:(

Gander 09-13-2006 12:44 PM

It seems I miss at one of the Triple Crown races every year for a wedding which ends up costing me anywhere between $200 and $500 depending on where it is. The worst ones are the ones my wife are in the bridal party and I am left alone to mingle with a bunch of stiffs. I bring up horse racing or baseball and these people look at me like I have 3 heads. I went to a wedding in Boston this summer and this guy at my table from Boston claimed to be a huge Red Sox fan yet had no idea who Kevin Youkilis was. LOL!

Randall, yes I will be there and you'll have to tell me where you hang out. I will come over and say hello.

BellamyRd. 09-13-2006 12:48 PM

the greatest day in racing is the 1st SAT in MAY
or when you hit a big score
all other days pale in comparison
unless you can somehow trek all the way up to the nether regions of NY
~I'm kidding, MGP:)
maybe it's the best day, some years are better than others
the KY & NY venues tower high over the others as BC hosts
