Sythetic surfaces
 

Is it me or does synthetic racing just produce a bunch of random results? This is the first year I've really focused on Del Mar and I cannot believe how many horses win that appear to be completely random and not based on any legitimate handicapping principles.


Does anyone feel the same way or do you feel there is predictability?

I have a few questions of my own.

How many different boards are you going to post your questions on?

Are the questions really just a way for you to post, which in turn gives you a chance to pimp your website?

No two synthetic surfaces play exactly alike -- some are a lot closer to each other than others.

The Track Super's can make them play however they want.

I've hated them, loved, hated them, hated them, hated them some more, loved them, hated them, and loved them.

When they have them favoring wides and favoring closers like the old SA Pro-Ride stuff and Poly-track when it was first unveiled in places like KY and DMR ... I hated the guts of the surface.

When they have them souped up and favoring inside-speed I love them.

I'm not a fan of running top class racing on those surfaces. The history of the sport in America is dirt racing. In general - our horses have been bred for dirt for a long, long time ... and when they have synthetic tracks playing like turf courses and running famous dirt races on them -- it's a joke.

Whatever that means...

Agree....don't really care much for that kind of racing.
