Word on Coil's work today? Is a go for Travers
Not sure when it is but assume he has worked already. Any insight from those close to the track?
Thank You |
You should be listening to ATR...
:58.2 and sharp in company with Prayer for Relief. Coil broke off behind and overhauled him. I was coming on the air but Ed Fontaine gave me the details on his way to barn. |
Damn work, gets in the way!
Well, guess that answers that.....I was kinda hoping he was gonna sit out this dance... |
Now a 'go' for Travers..
|
we will see if the track mysteriously is favoring 5 path closers....

I am referring to Monmouth/Haskell, and no I am not. Why do you ask?

My gosh, all the hometown folks asked what the hell happend to the track on that Sun....I am not going to go waste time and pull the articles, just thought it was noticed. It was a joke though...but it had a reason behind it.

Baffert tweeted after the work saying:
"Coil worked awesome. Looks like he might be Travers bound. If he looks great tomorrow." |

Your horse ran his eyeballs out, why diminish it? I get a kick when people go bonkers over a Baffert horse working a bullet. They almost always work fast, and when they don't, no good. |

Really Scavs, thought more of you until this.....three things:
#1 - It was a joke #2 - My comments dont diminsh anything #3 - The track changed that day so says the people that know more than I (and you) do, but who in the hell knew that coil would drop off the pace and close?? Not me, and I am sure that wasnt their plan. My comment was centered around the track bias on the big days (Derby, Preakness, Belmont, Haskell). I think it is noticable, but in a funny way. Go see how pissed the Halls were after the Haskell, after they decided to run both their horses on their home track only to have some strange bias develop. That was the reason for making the comment, but seriously it was a just a joke. |
As for Baffert's works, he gets bullets but some get them the right way and some get them the wrong way. Coil is real real good right now, and I am excited to have a decent group all together on Sat. (track bias and all)
|
Almost forgot, Scavs can you please share the bias for Sat so I can tell Jesus? I actually have not been focusing in on Saratago so I'm being kinda serious. Thanks

I think the word bias is used very loosely. Was there a bias on Belmont day? What's the evidence for that, Trappe Shot and It's Tricky? It's not like they both haven't come back to run very well. Justin Phillip? He's a mud freak that dominated a bad race.
I don't believe there was any true bias on Preakness day. As far as Derby day, the outside paths certainly seemed better but that's what a million people used as evidence to bet Master of Hounds in his next start and that didn't work out so well. Saratoga has been much kinder (than normal) to speed this meet in my opinion. It has had a lot more to do with the rain and drying out tracks IMO. Last year's Travers Day bias came out of nowhere and I hope it doesn't happen again. |
does 'deep' count.. ive personally seen the track at saratoga set up for outside horses..but hey the track supers do an oustanding job most all of the time.'bieng serious'
