10 hoss field....22-1 wins 10- 1 runs second, 23-1 shot runs third. tri pays $3500..i thought it shoulda paid twice that. looked like they did the race. the faves were being choked on the turn.. when you take an all in the tri and get a bomb too run 3rd it should pay alot more than the same money exacta box. what a gyp

Sure it wasn't. Maybe I missed it, but where did he say he hit the race?

helicopter11 08-21-2011 11:18 PM

I just assumed he did.

Alabama Stakes 08-22-2011 10:14 AM

any thoughts on the payout Mr Hoss, or the way the race played out.

Rudeboyelvis 08-22-2011 10:19 AM

I can tell you that catching a 22-1 shot in the first leg of a pick 4 and getting rewarded 128.50 for the effort, due to 2 consecutive gate scratches resulting in 2 post time favorites getting home - actually sucks balls...

Alabama Stakes 08-22-2011 10:22 AM

well you know we were gonna get the worst number home in the last end of it for sure.....

Actually, no - not me. I thought the favorite in the third leg was a stand out and essentially had him singled (used one other logical longshot) - I wanted no part of the 7-2 horse that was taking late money and eventually scratched, putting all of that of that dead pool money on a horse that was going to win anyhow, in my opinion.

the last leg was not nearly as close in my opinion, and the 9 which was 9-1 and would have insured a payout north of of 600.00 even after the 3rd race debacle was a logical use, until he was scratched as well - at least I got paid for him... Not complainin' anytime I can walk away with something is a good day, but pretty deflating after scoring huge in the first...

I didn't see the favs being choked on the turn as you said. It probably should have paid more I guess, but I haven't given it much thought.

Are you suggesting that Julian Leparoux, Ramon Dominguez, Rajiv Maragh and John Velazquez were in on a fix of a race at Saratoga on Alabama day?

This is not Roosevelt Raceway in the 60's and 70's and I don't think even those guys would have had the cojones to fix a race on a prominent card.

Alabama Stakes 08-22-2011 01:28 PM

difference between did, and fixed. fix is such a dirty word, and is not mentioned in my post.

Wasn't mentioned, but it was implied.

I agree that you didn't mention the word fix in your post, but then again, I can't see why you would state "the faves were being choked on the turn" in conjunction with the suggestion that the payout was abnormally low unless you were suggesting the race was fixed. Maybe I am wrong, but having a hard time reading it another way.
