Nice effort by DaSilva in today's NY Post

3 days isn't enough time to come up with more than this insightful analysis???

Schuylerville Stakes Georgie's Angel mdn winner. Gyppsy Robin tired in turf debut. Vukovar purchased privately after madn win.

Cut him some slack you say? These are only 2YO's with little to go on...

How about this handicapping expertise of the James marvin, which included winner of last year's Forego, Here Comes Ben?

James Marvin Aikenite first start since Grade 1 Met Mile. Caixa Electronica third in Met Mile. Here Comes Ben.

Scintillating! It's opening day at Saratoga for Christmas sake!

Why?

NTamm1215 07-22-2011 01:48 PM

There are obvious space restrictions for him so he doesn't have much room to work with. It's a complete non-issue, there's plenty of analysis available throughout cyberspace if you're looking for more info.

Not sure if you've followed DaSilva through the years, but his space has been limited to this for years.

Thanks. My picks have not been good but he was a bright spot today.

How about doing your own work!

NoLuvForPletch 07-22-2011 05:47 PM

Ok. Maybe I am missing something? Does he do this for free? If so - am sorry to bring it up, but if he gets paid I wouldn't be able to deposit the check.

It has nothing to do with doing my own work. I'm not personally betting on John DaSilva's scintillaing info, but there are those that might be. It's simply an issue of making an effort. It's an awesome job he has, respect it!

Seriously, you are defending him by saying he is limited in space? Really?

All the crap that is in the NY Post and there isn't enough room to write more about a Grade 1 winner of one of the most prestigeous sprints in the country than "Here Comes Ben"? Please. Don't write anything then.

I do get paid for this and I do have space limitations. I also write more in my analysis but once it is sent to the office, they edit it for space purposes and I have no control over what is taken out. Ed and myself have been trying to get them to put the full analysis and binocs and stories on the internet where there is no space limitations. Hopefully one day that will happen. BTW, I picked Here Comes Ben third and I wasn't going to go crazy writing more about a horse third than my first two choices but my comments about him were more than what you saw in the paper.

JD,

Thanks for addressing. That's more than most will do. Maybe you can suggest taking out "Tomorrow's Entries", as the other paper has done, and that would provide you with the additional space you desire? I hope your editor realizes how revising your picks and analysis to that degree makes you look.

It has been tried in the past and every time it happens, the office is bombarded with irate customers. We dont get that many complaints with column or font changes but if tomorrow's entries come out, get out the Tylenol because our ears and phones will be ringing constantly.
