Arlington to run today? @ 100 degrees

Understand their reluctance to cancel Sunday with fiesta in the park but with temps and heat indexes expected to equal yesterday. 99 and 109 degrees, why in the world would they run and if they do what's the cutoff? 110? 120? Hopefully common sense will prevail and they are late updating the website.

Good news is relief from the heat is on its way tomorrow.

If they run today, it will be one race. Unfortutenely the track is in the position where they can 'put it' on the jocks so it doesn't look like they cancelled.

It shouldn't even be a question considering how hot it is, imo.

Agreed. Too unsafe, and even if no person or horse is hurt, I can't imagine actually getting a representative performance out of anybody. The conditions are too extreme.

Then Arlington Heights better put a couple ambulances on standby to revive the tellers that will inevitably go down walking from the handicap lot to the front door.

I just got back from the track and supposedly they are shortening post parades and watering the track after every race. My O/U is 2 races

Its more cause the horses are used to it. They train in it every day. Same with Calder.

Up here it is normally in the low 80's, and when it gets this, 100 degrees, with 100% humidity, it isn't good for them.

Woodbine just cancelled, Arlington will do it after one or two races. It sucks because we are live today and should run a huge race even with the anchor we have aboard. :p

We ran a few weeks ago when it was high into the 100's, not to mention the humidity and the sun beaming down on you. My car said 108 after it dropped from 113 when I first got in.

No one is used to that heat... but we shorten our post parades by 4 mins or so and use lots of water.
