Wisconsin recall elections starts today

Today is the first day in the recall election process in Wisconsin.

If you remember, an angry Wisconsin electorate got enough signatures from citizens to put all six eligible Republicans on the ballot to go through the recall process.

Angry Republicans tried to recall six Democrats, but only got enough signatures for three to go through the recall process.

Today was supposed to be the Dem vs Republican recall election, however the Republicans filed a fake Democrat against every real candidate, thus today is not the Dem vs GOP election, it is the Democratic primary: the real candidates against the fake GOP running as "dems" in an effort to put off the election on their recalled GOP guys by a month. These "fake Dems" include three over 80-year-old lifetime Republicans, one 24 year old GOP up and comer wanting to advance in the party. None have tried to raise any campaign funds, they are on the ballot solely to try and confuse Democratic primary voters into not voting for the real Democrat.

Polls close at 9pm Wisconsin time. Wiphan, I suppose you will want to bet that all the GOP will win? :D

Republicans all lose, Democrats all win in Wisconsin

In spite of Republicans being able to vote in the Democratic primary, the GOP still couldn't pull off getting their fake candidates elected. All six Democrats won overwhelmingly in their districts, and will face the Republicans set for recall August 9th.

Quote:

MADISON, Wis. — All six fake Democrats lost to Democrats supported by the party in primaries Tuesday that are the first in a series of recall elections targeting nine Wisconsin state senators for their positions on Republican Gov. Scott Walker's divisive union rights restrictions.

The winners advance to take on six incumbent Republicans targeted for recall on Aug. 9.

The state Republican Party orchestrated the placement of the fake Democrats on Tuesday's ballot, thereby delaying the general election for a month. That gave the Republican incumbents more time to campaign and distance themselves from the turmoil over the union law that they voted to support in March, spurring the recall efforts.

Five of the six winners had at least 65 percent of the vote, based on unofficial results. The sixth, Shelly Moore, had 54 percent.

... [snip]...

The stakes are huge. If the Democrats gain three seats, they will take majority control away from the Republicans and be in a position to stop Walker and the GOP's agenda.

Republicans can vote in the Democratic races because Wisconsin has an open primary, raising the possibility of further mischief in the elections. State Democratic Party Chairman Mike Tate said he was concerned Republicans would attempt to vote for the fake Democrats on Tuesday, but he was confident the real ones would prevail.
