Shackleford

All who had winning tickets with Shakleford? If you had the chance after he loaded, would you cashed for a refund? Such a fine line between being cranked and being washed out. I was torn between front runners and Shack was one of them but I picked Flash to hang on. What a mistake. I was confidant that I ruled out Shack after he loaded. How many of you were confident with his appearance during postparade and loading?

I have to admit, that I would have seriously thought about canceling any win tickets that involved him.

randallscott35 05-25-2011 09:11 AM

I would have cancelled after the way he acted in the paddock, forget the gate.

Clip-Clop 05-25-2011 09:15 AM

Couldn't get them cancelled, actually. Tried but my phone was acting up and wouldn't allow the third confirmation window to open so I could. Aw shucks.

What was the temperature at Pimlico, over 80 degrees? I don't find it unusual at all a horse could wash out a bit in the heat. If it was 50 and he was that sweaty, THEN I would be very concerned.

It was warm, in fact, I want to say the local news said it was the hottest day of the year thus far. It was far from obnoxiously hot but I'd say slightly over 80 degrees.

rpncaine 05-25-2011 11:22 AM

So isn't there a good chance it will be warmer on June 11th at Elmont? At least we all know that he is inclined to do it now. Personally, I like Nehro's chances.

slotdirt 05-25-2011 11:39 AM

I love Nehro's chances...to finish second.

I left him off as I didn't think he'd repeat on two weeks, plus be distance-challenged and have pace contention. When I saw him washy I was positive of it. I was dead wrong :D Congrats to the connections.

You have been redeemed by your not getting swallowed into buying one of those iCraps.

It's a Droid no iSheep here. Wouldn't have gotten the unchangeable bets in without it. Work always gets in the way of my gambling.

I cashed a a P5 to Shackelford.
I was alive to 8 horses.
He was my top pick of course....

gamblin4ever 05-28-2011 08:33 AM

I liked him going into the day. Placed my wagers and shut down the cpu. Usually if I change my picks I end up losing. !st choice ,best choice :)

As I work to perfect my handicapping skills, I have always thought that I was missing something by not watching the post parade. I have trouble knowing which horses "look ready" and which do not. Shiny coat. Ears pricked. Heck, I don't know.

Then on Saturday, I thought I finally spotted something. Shackleford. Looked anxious, sweating profusely. All signs of not being ready. Maybe I finally had this "visual" handicapping skill figured out. Surely, he was ready to crash.

...Guess not... I'll move forward focusing my handicapping energies somewhere else.
