Republican disgraceful political ploy

I try and stay away from political attack threads but this really pisses me off! The Republicans in the House pass a bill to extend funding for another week with provisions not agreeable to Democrats then they add a provision funding military personnel for 6 months...all so they can attack Democrats in the Senate and President Obama should he veto the bill (which he has promised to do) as being non-supportive of the military. I listen for awhile to C-Span while numerous Republican congressman tried to drive that point home...what a bunch of crap!!! When I served in Nam, I did so with the feeling that a bunch of fat old white guys were using us as canon fodder to advance their political goals, now...all these years later, I feel the same way. It's bad enough that brave young men and women are placed in harm's way so the hawks of both parties can strut around Washington but to use them in such a blatant political way is unforgivable!!

Well, the GOP has also added social issues rider after rider to all their funding bills, especially and most recently an anti-abortion rider. We can't have a budget passed unless we also outlaw abortion? It's absurd.

The other thing that worries me is that Boehner is completely being driven by the Tea Party, who want 100% of what they want, and if they don't get it they want the government shut down - as if that's not an important thing! It's like having children in charge of this country!

Yes, the Tea Party Patriots need to grow up

Can't believe they have the gall to refer to themselves in this manner. Holier than thou, or what?

Be clear on what "Tea Party" you are talking about, it can be so confusing!

Tea Party Patriots (political PAC in California co-opting "Tea Party" movement, Freedomworks cover PAC associated [a former Koch group] - contribute to Jim DeMint)

Tea Party Express (funded by the billionaire Koch brothers via their Americans for Prosperity cover PAC - they support the Capital hill "tea party" guys Mike Pence, Michelle Bachmann, etc)

And then there are plain "Tea Party" folks who think they are grassroots.

800,000 federal employees who are paid by the working American to the tune of 50K/year would save $40 Billion/year. (almost 1/2 of what the Tea Party wants cut) Lets give the shut down a try. Last time no one even noticed. Let government catch up to the private sector. While private companies have become leaner and either frozen or reduced pay, the government has grown fatter.

BTW The GOP looking out for the troops is not a novel idea. Unlike some Dems, Reps don't generally loathe the military and don't accuse them of acting like SS troops.

What's the difference between the GOP's Koch brothers and the Dem's George Soros?

Ror!! what was so hard for the DEM's to accept the part where it says -

"the bill would prevent Guantanamo Bay detainees from being transferred into the U.S. for any purpose and prevent both federal and local funds from being used to provide abortions in the District of Columbia."

Outrageous !!!!!!

All of which has a lot to do with funding the government but as usual folks take off on a thread and don't address the point...I resent using our military men and women as political pawns. I know both parties have done so in the past but this is totally irresponsible and just plain wrong.

AeWingnut 04-08-2011 12:31 PM

why haven't you moved to Cuba yet?

Way to address the issue...oh, I forgot, you don't do that, you just make snide remarks.

Quite a bit, if you bothered to pay the least bit of attention to serious politics in this country over the past 20-30 years.

Yes, that speaks to the involvement of all three men in American politics.

Kind of strange though when the Koch's made their money 'the American Way' (providing jobs/product etc etc) while Soros bet against the British (dollar) and is not a homebred but that's all you!

Which has nothing at all to do with the subject, which is the three men's involvement in American politics.

I guess you don't get that it's not about "winning"? It would be nice to debate opposing views on important topics, no? You know, discuss a subject in depth and with some nuance? Sure, we have have the "he sucks!" threads, but that gets pretty boring.

lord007 04-08-2011 10:15 PM

Problem is your brain will not let you compute what is going on with this F'd up administration....(Yes Bush's sucked too)......

None of us are winning so long as we spend more than we take in. Get the meat cleaver out on this budget and let's get the job done.
