4/7: Oaklawn (7th-10th); Santa Anita (5th-8th)

Budget $48 swing at Hawthorne carryover was well worth it despite 4 of 6 result as sequence returned robust $29,426 to clever tickets. The 4 easy winners were drop kicks, but the 4 horse photo in the 8th going to 28-1 Poor John was the difference-maker. $13.40 Well Respected Man was surprisingly dominant in the $10k claiming 5th as well. Was fun watching the racing from Cicero, though the bizarre assembly in Saturday's Illinois Derby doesn't feel too encouraging for the season that lies ahead in Chicago. In fact, a Chicago Tribune piece Wednesday elaborated on how increasingly dire the situation is in the Midwest's once proud racing center. Hope you did OK Wednesday... Good sequences at Oaklawn and Santa Anita today!

OAKLAWN PARK

POST-SCRATCHES

7th: MDN CLM, 3yo, 5.5f (P4)

Very nicely matched group. Firsters better be ready because those that have started previously look solid..

Next Best: #7 Blessed Day 7-2 WON ($6.00)
Exotics Use: #6 Snow On the Bayou 6-1 2nd
Super Add: #8 Da Thrill 5-1 8th

$1 Exacta (7-6) Paid $33.90
$1 Trifecta (7-6-4) Paid $176.10

Super Add: #3 Margie Marie 5-1 WON ($15.20)

9th: OC/N2Y, 4+, 1m (DD)

Curious that they make the Bonde invader the ML fave. Even more curious is the fact that Slew the Man, a Washington bred, is not in Hot Springs as a workmate for Sway Away, with the pair drilling on different days..

Best Value: #5 Cryptolight 5-1 WON ($11.60)
Next Best: #1 Proceed Bee 3-1 6th
Exotics Use: #8 Slew the Man 5-2 2nd
Super Add: #2 And Music Came 6-1 4th

SANTA ANITA

POST-SCRATCHES

5th: ALW/N2X, 4+, 9f-T (P4, P3, DD, Super)

Top pair exit Kilroe and just seem to be better than rest here..

Most Likely: #3 Times Gone By 5-2 5th
Next Best: #6 Sebastian Flyte 3-1 WON ($5.60)
Exotics Use: #5 Tiz Argent 4-1 3rd
Super Add: #1 Do It All 8-1 2nd

Best Value: #1 Ann's Seven 9-2 -
Next Best: #7 Moon Stone Madness 4-1 WON ($8.20)
Super Add: #6 Sipnzin 20-1 -

7th: Cal-ALW/N1X, F&M-3+, 6.5f-T (DD, Super)

Favored rail rallyer from Sadler received poor workout grade from Harrington for last move. The logical pick but not thrilled, as race seems ripe for upset. Walsh returnee gone eons, but she's too clever a conditioner to ignore sending first time 4yo..

Most Likely: #1 Tiz a Bud Girl 5-2 7th
Best Value: #2 Miss Georgie Girl 8-1 2nd
Next Best: #3 Pleasing Sunrise 9-2 3rd
Super Add: #5 Boehle 4-1 WON ($12.40)

8th: Cal-MSW, F&M-3+, 1m-T (Super, Super Hi-5)

Decent group of Cali cuties. Abrams pair worked similarly together and seem eligible..

Most Likely: #7 Billa Shaka 5-2 6th
Best Value: #1 Lindz Whiz 6-1 8th
Next Best: #5 Distant Glow 4-1 WON ($9.00)
Exotics Use: #8 Nana Beach 6-1 7th
Super Add: #3 Cookinthisorthat 4-1 5th

<$50 P4 Play:

5: 3-6
6: 1-4-6-7
7: 1-2-3
8: 1-5-7-8

2x4x3x4 = 96 x .50 = $48

Good luck!
Steve

Didn't look at at the whole SA card, but I think you can single Times Gone By. I've been waiting for him to come back. Too bad the price will be short.

Huh.. Interesting. Rich Eng was on with me today and loves Sebastian Flyte!

Maybe that NY writer, "Addowitz," can find out how Bonde feels about the horse? :D:confused:;)

THX! Happy to take it after the anchor leg beat at OP last week...

That 3 could have made a real race of it had Campbell not lost so much ground with her..

I can't stay for the late pair at Santa Anita as I have to meet Tina in Saratoga, so good luck to everybody the rest of the way! Hope between Gus and I we can sweep the major quads today!

pointman 04-07-2011 05:54 PM

Tom, Nick, BA, Matt... and Matt,

Thanks guys! Just watched the 7th from Santa Anita. Wouldn't have taken much to get the Walsh returnee (at 12-1) by the winner there! Damn. That favored Bud Girl smelled so bad this morning... it was obvious. Fun day though! Hope everybody made a little and are excited about Keeneland tomorrow and the big weekend. Just home a bit ago and am starting to do the work..

Jay Privman, Marcus Hersch, Nick and Gus and more on ATR tomorrow!
