Ya know, I hate to join in the never-ending Churchill bashing that goes on around here. But how friggen hard is it to get certain things right?

This pool will close, at best, minutes after the Florida Derby is run. It may even close before. Good God. Extend the bet until 7:00pm.

And the issue of why they can't seem to figure out a way to offer more than 23 interestes has been beaten to death here, but I think we should beat it a little more. This wager has been offered since at least 1999 I think. So this is like the 13th time it's been offered. Figuring out how to offer more than 23 horses cannot possibly be that difficult.

Stop making sense.

I'd find it hard to believe that the Florida Derby would be run that late in the day. With Gulfstream, I'm sure it's about 4:30-5:00PM Eastern time. The pool us usually open until 6PM eastern time, right?

If they did run it late, I'd guess it would be the first derby pool where none of the 23 betting interests will have run that specific weekend. And I assume that would affect the handle negatively, too...

I never bet Future Wagers...I have enough trouble picking winners once I actually know whether a horse in actually gonna be in the starting gate, let alone have access to updated past performances, post positions, weather, track conditions etc. Seems completely illogical to me although getting 10-1 on the field might be worthwhile.

like the other guy said...."stop making sense". plus, why not close at 7:00PM NEXT sunday with ALL the probable starters in place(on the betting list).....then maybe i would bet a buck or two.........when they say "future"...they mean throw your money on the ground. the last pool should be better than this crap.

I put a lousy $20 on Mr. Commons. Nothing else inspired. Was hoping against hope for 15-1 on PrePeg.

Sightseek 04-03-2011 07:41 PM

How is Mr. Commons even a choice?

He won routing at Santa Anita and is supposed to run in the Santa Anita Derby. That's about all it takes this year.

Agreed, One more 15-20/1 shot will win the SA Derby, Bluegrass or Arkansas Derby and mix it up. My bet is Arkansas Derby. 11 horses pointing for that race.

I used Jaycito hoping Baffert is right about him being a legit 1 1/4 horse at 20-1. Took a wild stab at Silver Medallion. After watching Nehro get shipped out and come close for Assmussen. I am hoping this one stayed at Santa Anita for a purpose.
