This ESPN SPINOFF......

is bullsh!t. Delete this message monitors. It seems to be a clique and if someone that is not part of it posts something the group doesn'nt like, it gets deleted. This Oracle person seems to be allowed to say anything he wants without reprecussions. He can threaten to beat people up and that is okay? Whoever is in charge of this sham please let's have a little fairness to regular posters. We don't need to deal with some group that owns the board. Isn't this a public forum? I don't threaten people. I will call Oracle an ******* when he deserves it though. If he wants to "beat me up" so be it. I will not respond to his juvenile horse ****. It is time the monitors on this board grew a pair of balls and deal with people uniformly. Stop allowing this Oracle person from running the show.

Hey, Slew ...

... you should see what it's like on the "other" forum ...

... which is monitored by a hysterical clique of sob-sister harridans ... who tolerate only p-whipped girly-boys as posters.

Thank goodness this site has a policy of allowing real men to be contributors ... and to express their opinions uncensored.

But don't be a-scared ... no one has ever been "beaten up" by pixels on a computer monitor. You're more likely to be killed by a stingray than for that to happen.

Slew,

I'd ask for a little indulgence on the monitoring of the Forum the last 6 weeks during Saratoga. Having to meet obligations at the track with Carolina Barbecue; handicapping 9-10 races a day; writing up selections for here and At the Races and Beyond.com; doing the broadcasts 30-90 minutes M-F; and taking care of my home with a minumum of 5 and high of 10 visitors at any time, kept me occupied literally from 4am-11pm daily. I've tried to address what I considered unacceptable here from the start, and will do so again with alacrity.

I'm as unhappy with certain posting tendencies as a majority of Derby Trailers... With the end of the Saratoga meet, life returned to 'normal' Tuesday, and the management of the Board will as well.

Steve

did you know Mork from Ork was a spinoff of Happy Days? How he got from Milwaukee to Boulder I do not know. Bonus: What was the name of Mork and Mindy's 225-pound baby boy, played by the irrasible Jonathan Winters?

You know, yesterday we had pretty much non stop talk about racing with no problems at all.
The problem with bashers or trolls, is that they only pipe up to complain about something and never add anything at all in a postive way.
Basically its why they exist on the net, to try and rain on other people.
These bashers and trolls never say " hey thanks for posting the changes and scratches". Or " hey thanks for letting us know about the track conditions early in the morning so we can cap", or "thanks for that workout info".
All they do is sit and read and wait to pipe in with miserable posts about what is wrong.
If you don't contribute postively, there really isn't any way you can gripe about what you deem to be negative and be taken with any credibility.
I'd rather have 15 guys bickering, who along the way, give information that helps people learn and sort things out, then a 100 person lovefest with everyone just talking about bull****.

I'm not averse to having BOTH. And with all due respect, I'm the guy paying the freight around here and the individual who'll decide the tone and agenda. Bickering will occur, and I accept it as part of the "scene", AS LONG AS IT DOES NOT DISSOLVE INTO THREATS, NAME-CALLING AND BELLICOSE, BELLIGERANT INSULTS.

EVERYONE that is a member here, and by proxy those that are lurking, will be treated with respect and empathy by each other REGARDLESS OF THEIR LEVEL OF INTEREST AND COMPREHENSION of the game...

No one, and I mean NO ONE, is above reproach and redress in this regard... This site and Forum bear my name and therefore is an extension of my involvement in ATRAB and the other industry-related endeavors in which I'm involved. As such, it's my responsibility to ensure that the environment is one of generous welcome and gracious appreciation for those that post or just read...

As far as I'm concerned, what goes on here 24 hours a day is akin to a dinner party in my own home, as "BTW" once suggested. As such, I will not have any one guest insulting or taunting another... Period. If anyone cannot show appropriate self control and the manners of polite company that go with it, they'll simply be asked to leave.

From what I saw yesterday, there was indeed a terrific give and take all over the place on the racing and non-racing subjects alike. I intend to see it continue without rancor...

Steve

That's why you ... and I ... are on this forum ...

... and not that "other" pretty-horsie, p-whipped girly-boy, cry-on-cue-or-you're-banned site.

Steve has my 100% confidence ... as a site proprietor ... and as a mensch.

TOTAL BULL s hit

A prime example of what shouldn't be tolerated ...

... especialy by someone like Steve ... who has too much class and integrity to be subject to vile nonsense like that.

ArlJim78 09-06-2006 09:14 AM

In response to Steve's appeal for decorum, I have been inspired to change my signature line. :)

Latin for: Resolutely in action, gentle in manner.

Don't worry, with him you're only minutes from another dramatic exit.

Scav 09-06-2006 09:15 AM

Blocky,

Their needs to be some slack here. Steve was busy as can be and he has yet to assign people moderator status. The only two moderators were at Toga 6 days a week for 10-12 hours a day. If their was someone that was here and on the board all the time, alot of the stuff that ensued wouldn't have gotten as far as it did. You have to remember that this just started not even a full four months ago, and kinks, if any, will get worked out.

This is the silliest thread. If ya don't like the forum, then leave. Why start a thread bashing the place? This is silly.

If ya don't like someone, don't talk to them. If ya don't like a forum, don't go to the website.

This is not rocket science people. Ya bunch of pot stirrers!

Pretty simple concept, isn't it? I never understood why folks stay somewhere they don't enjoy being for "entertainment"...now, in the real world, we all endure people and things we'd rather do without...but here, on the net, we all have complete freedom to go and do what we desire...

I don't know I think of like when you love your job but hate your coworkers...hard to get away from one without losing the other.
