Donald Trump releases birth certificate ... except it's not

I love politics. This is gonna be the best, most fun, presidential election season evah :D

Donald Trump has recently publicly revealed himself to be a conspiracy-theory birther. Trump has been calling for Obama to release his own birth certificate.

(Trump is apparently unawares that a copy of Obama's birth certificate has been available on the internet for 3 years, and it's authenticity has been verified by multiple officials, including the Republican Governor of Hawaii, and ancillary information - newspapers, etc. And it was George W. Bush's administration that verified Obama was a US citizen that could run for President, and neither Hillary or McCain's campaign could find any problems with Obama's citizenship)

Today Trump released his own birth certificate with a flourish. Seriously.

Except ... it's not an official birth certificate.

Where's your birth certificate, Trump? What are you hiding? :D

Newsmax, the conservative site to which Trump released his non-official birth certificate document
http://www.newsmax.com/InsideCover/d...3/28/id/390930

And appropriate superficial investigation reveals the document not to be official
http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmi...rtificate.html

And the absolutely bestest part is Ben Smith's tongue-in-cheek "comment" at the end of his article:

Quote:

"Trump's mother, it should be noted, was born in Scotland, which is not part of the United States. His plane is registered in the Bahamas, also a foreign country. This fact pattern -- along with the wave of new questions surrounding what he claims is a birth certificate -- raises serious doubts about his eligibility to serve as President of the United States.
LOL - you go, Ben.

LOL! I can think of many reasons that Trump should never be President of the US, his place of birth is far down my list. Don't get me wrong, I'm aware of the fact that he must be a native born citizen but really...DONALD F'ing TRUMP??

I'm quite sure Trump was born in the USA. But for Trump to reveal himself as a birther, then attack Obama, and then release only his own hospital souvenir copy as his "official birth certificate" is hysterically funny.

The fact that the Donald thinks he is capable of being President is funny, the fact that a recent poll showed he had a 10% following among Republican voters, well...that's scary!

Isn't he pro-choice, and didn't he favor some form of national healthcare? I think he would only have a chance as an Independent. I guess he's just looking for attention. Doing well in business does not prepare one for Politics. We make it easy for people with money to make more money. Politics is much more like surfing on waves.

There is definately something being hidden from the public on Obama's long form and I suspect it's either the religion listed or the lack of father name? I for one am interested in seeing it so I guess that still makes me a birther.

Yep!

Many more pictures of Obama's birth certificate, including closeups, copies of the newspaper publications of announcement of birth, statements from witnesses, etc. at www.factcheck.org

"This copy serves as prima facie evidence of the fact of birth in any court proceeding"

You do realize that it is legal in the US to be Catholic, right?

of course I do but I find it hard to believe the original is lost? I also agree it seems very odd, almost Rezko like, that Obama & Co. have spent even a single dollar defending its release. But then again I'm from Chicago-Illinois and am biased because of past experiences.

Rudeboyelvis 03-29-2011 02:58 PM

Trump's official birth certificate is a sympathy card to his mother from the Trojan Man.

I don't believe it should but unfortunately he seems serious and certainly is arrogant enough to be serious. Since I see myself voting for Obama, it doesn't matter to me, I just find it funny.

I've heard this time and time again, that "Obama spent millions preventing it's release", like there is some deep dark secret (not revealed in his two books, his released birth certificate, childhood pictures, etc) I just searched that. Is there any substance to it, other than the blatherings of private bloggers? I know a couple lawsuits were filed when he was elected, both dismissed.

Who said the original is "lost"?

BTW, I'm from "Chicago-Illinois", too.

I think it was the governor of Hawaii? And if it's not lost then why hasn't it been released?

It'd guess it's because there is no need to. Because his valid birth certificate is pictured, above, and was released 3 years ago? Because newspapers of the time independently verify his birth? Because the Bush administration, Clinton, McCain, etc. - nobody found anything remotely questionable regarding the President's citizenry?

What about the "millions spent defending it's release" nonsense - where does that come from?
