Thoroughbred trainer Rick Dutrow appeared before a NYS Racing and Wagering Board hearing in Schenectady, N.Y. May 31, 2011, to determine his participation in alleged charges of use of performance enhancing drugs on horses under his care.
SCHENECTADY -- The Director of Investigations for the New York State Racing & Wagering Board testified Thursday that he found a box with three syringes and needles in the Aqueduct desk drawer of trainer Rick Dutrow Jr. on Nov. 3, 2010. Joel Leveson testified for nearly three hours at the hearing for Dutrow, who is facing possible suspension or revocation of his training license in New York State. Leveson, who has been at his job since 1997, said he was sent to Dutrow's barn to teach two New York Racing Association investigators how to do a barn search.
