GQ's Worst fans list...

http://www.gq.com/sports/lists/20110...merica#slide=1

Not sure how Pennsylvania manages to take down 3 of the top 7 spots .. (Philly Eagles #1, The Phillies #2, and Penn State Football #7) .. and #3 and #5 ranked West Virigina Mountaineers basketball and Maryland basketball are practically on our state border....

yet ... no mention of the Steelers anywhere.

It's actually a joke of a list because everyone knows all of the worst fans are in Florida. The Miami Heat still play to half empty crowds before halftime when people finally decide to start filling in.

Penn State Football easily has the best fans in the country. They actually understand the game and impact the outcome of a lot of games - sometimes in a big way. Yet ... they're the 7th worst because they throw stuff? ...

Urine Tossers

Behold: a group of fans so vile that the university had to adopt a resolution denouncing "negative cheering" all the way back in 2000. Loophole: They didn't tell the kids not to throw stuff! Thus students from the Princeton Review's 2010 top party school have pelted visiting players and band members with snowballs, mud balls, and bottles of urine. Lacking projectiles during the 2008 riots that followed a win over Ohio State, Penn fans uprooted small trees to hurl at police. And let's not forget the notorious 2007 incident in which a crowd of onlookers cheered as a student chased down two OSU fans and threw a full can of beer at their heads. Video of that assault was proudly posted on YouTube, tagged as "comedy."

Where are Preakness fans listed?

Leaving the Preakness infield looks like a scene from "Gone with the Wind" with wounded soldiers on stretchers being tended to by medics whilst caked in mud and other unmentionables. It's fascinating.

GQ sports columns and rankings are the equivalent to heeding Somali advice on how to run our economy.

While I would agree that Eagles fans deserve a ranking, Baltimore Orioles fans are far worse than Phillies fans in my experience as are Colt/Raven fans. As a life long Penn State fan I cannot fairly comment on State fans.

LSU was put on the list just so GQ could show the photo of those two coeds.

Phillies at # 2???? I laughed. Tell that to Cliff Lee, this years prize free agent who cited the fans as a major reason for choosing to take a pay cut to play for us! Anyone catch Guv Rendells reply to this mockery of a list?
