He was just prepping for the French 2000 Guineas.

Might want to wait for the American 2000 Guineas instead.

Pletcher off

The horse who finished 2nd in this race at 99/1 - ahead of Pluck - was on my Presque Isle Downs horses to watch list.

He broke from post position #10 on Aug 25th at PID - and was about six wide the entire way around the far turn on a strong gold rail day. Earned a powerful -0 Beyer - but a decent pace figure.

I wouldn't have liked him at 10,000/1 odds today.

Tampa Bay Downs: Where the beer is cold, the race calls are wrong, and past performances simply don't matter.

Believe me, I was ready to dump on Pluck in a big way too... But, after a second viewing, it was his first back after 120 days, the pace he was attacking was glacial, and he started running too late. He did make up a lot of ground in the last 100 yards and looked best at that point. He should have dusted this bunch, and I think the European campaign is presposterous, but I wouldn't hold yesterday against him too much.

Call Motion (I mean King Irwin) and get a feel for if they really think Europe is a viable consideration.

Not the case at all.

Don't you like owe me a public high five or something? That feels like the worst bet I've ever won.
