is there anything marketed that over-promises and under-delivers more than gum?

i watched a commercial and this hot chick bites into a piece and all of a sudden she's windsurfing a tidal wave and there's an explosion of fruit and she's kayaking down a watermelon waterfall into a magical world of spinning fruit, blue water, and dolphins.

i bite into a piece and i'm still stuck in traffic behind a jackass who brakes randomly but doesn't realize his left turn signal is still on from three minutes ago when it suddenly appeared a few seconds after cutting me off.

i want to know if the gum economy would really collapse if they just told the truth and said "eat this and your breath won't smell like ass."
