Lure

How good was he? Im going through the DRF Champions book and his pp's really jump out. He has a string of 17 races where he finishes 1-2 including 2 BC Mile wins. Where would he have compared to a horse like Goldikova? He is clearly not just a miler so what about comparing him to horses like Artie Schiller, Singletary and Gio Ponti? I never watched him run, I was 8 at the time he was really good. From looking at his pp's he looks like a total super horse.

At one time he was a very good dirt horse. He held the track record at Belmont for 5 furlongs on the dirt. Dead heated with Devil His Due in the 92 Gotham which was a great race. Artie Shiller, Singletary and Gio Ponti don't deserve to be in the same conversation as Lure.

Paradise Creek and Star Of Cozzene do, though.

Add in Kotashaan and Bien Bien and you have one hell of a turf division in the early '90s (not even mentioning the females--Flawlessly, Toussaud, etc.).

The best thing about Lure, Paradise Creek and Star of Cozzene was they all ran against each other multiple times during the year. No ducking by the connections. Same thing could be said for Kotashaan and Bien Bien.
