Breeders Cup Classic Form

Run backs:

Haynesfield 2nd to 35/1 shot Jersey Town in Cigar Mile
Musket Man 8th beaten many behind Jersey Town at 7/2 in Cigar Mile
First Dude 4th at 4/5 odds behind Tackleberry in Sunshine's Million Classic
Fly Down 5th at 5/2 odds behind Giant Oak in the Donn.

The only horse to run halfway respectable was Haynesfield - and he blew the break in the Classic - and was rank on a pace that badly collapsed. Basically, hands down the worst trip in the race especially considering his form is always better when he's on the lead.

The BC Classic did somehow manage to go slightly faster than the 2yo boys in the Juvenile - but if you look at the Ragozin variant - even the wind direction aided the Classic final time versus that race... hence Uncle Mo running clearly a faster Ragozin figure than Blame and Zenyatta.

Last years Classic just keeps looking more and more horrid all the time - but at least we are seeing monsters like Jersey Town, Tackleberry, Soaring Empire and Giant Oak rising from the ashes.

If Nafgzer kept ole Street Sense around - he'd probably have collected 25 Grade 1 wins by now. Remember the hardest title to win on Gallop Racer - the "every year" - where you have to win a Gr 1 race every year from age 2 to age 8? I think Street Sense would have done what I couldn't even do on "easy" mode in a video game.

Fly Down was a bit off on the board early. I thought he would be the chalk start to finish. I dont think he ever went lower then 5-2. He was beyond bad today.

So Zenyatta doesn't deserve to be number 11 all time? No way.

The Indomitable DrugS 02-05-2011 08:01 PM

Nor does Blame deserve to be top 111 ... but that's all beside the point.

While our Classic event races continue to degenerate - the 2-year-old in training sales are becoming more and more impressive events all the time.

The new triple crown should be Fasig Tipton Calder, Barretts March, and OBS March ... we can make the Travers Fasig Tipton Timonioum.

Any horse who records the fastest breeze in the under-tack show at all three events should be crowned triple crown winner.

In other news, Teaks North, Grade 1 winner. Now onto Dubai.

Nick Sailusto said there are no definite plans for Teaks North’s next start, but that they would consider an invitation to the Dubai World Cup Festival.

“It would be nice to get invited to the Festival, either for the Classic or the turf race, I don’t think either would be out of reach,” the younger Sailusto said.

Hope they have the vacation days planned now, because that's all they'll be getting out of a trip there.

And they will actually have to pay to be nominated, unlike the other 315 horses who are nominated and did so for free.
