Joey P.
I saw he is entered for a tag at Gulfstream. I don't know what his current form is, but what a neat horse.

Joey P. has to be about nine now, right?
|
Yep he's nine. He's going for hit 18th win. I hope he stays healthy and has a good year.
|
He was the king at Monmouth for a long time. Even ran a couple nice ones at CT. Just could never break through in the big race.
|
Nice horse. I wish him well.

Bravo quote from yesterday: "How cool is it to have a nine-year-old come off a layoff and be able to come back to the races like that? "This horse knows what he's doing. He doesn't need a rider. He's special."

Great quote. :)

I guess he was last (that was a cool field... Joey, Hobbit, Who's the Cowboy... nice old guys) but this was sweet and figured I'd post it anyway.

I wouldn't have noticed this but for a post by Jacksdad...
http://www.derbytrail.com/forums/showthread.php?t=43260 .. but figured I'd wish Joey a safe trip hime here on his thread. Fingers crossed that - if he gets a new home - connections do whatever is best for this cool old guy. He's in R3 (along with Soda Pop Kid who I remember as being not terrible) tomorrow at Monmouth. |
They need to do right by him and retire him, he has gone from Gaded stakes company to a 35k tag..........sad... if i had the money he would be in someones backyard grazing all day :)
|
I thought his run through the stretch was one of the highlights of the card. It was his 5th appearance on Haskell day and he had a three length lead in the lane at the longest price since he ran in the Haskell himself.
