"We're going to miss her, but that's what happens," Shirreffs said. "The big thing is to enjoy the ones that you have when they're with you."

The Mosses couldn't resist a bit of campaigning, with both of them wearing "Vote Zenyatta" buttons in reference to her bid to win Horse of the Year honors in January.

Fans did the same, chanting "Horse of the Year" while Zenyatta was on the track.

"I think the industry will miss a huge opportunity if they don't give her Horse of the Year," said Shirreffs

I guess DT people are smarter then the actual people voting. Mark Cuasno of CapitalOtb sent out emails and did a poll of actual voters. It came back I want to say around 60% Zenyatta. I dont remember exactly, but it was heavily Zenyattas way. She is very likely to win the award. Remember Nick Kling is voting for her.

So you're assuming all voters responded to that email? I'd guess that the average Zenyatta-loving idiot member of the media would be more likely to respond than some who is planning on voting for Blame. Everyone I know personally who has a vote is voting for Blame.

I'm sure I could regret asking this, but what/who is Komodo and why did 5 people vote for it/him/her?

Mark did get replies from over 25% of voters, so it's a pretty solid sample. I have spoken to about 10 voters and they are split about 50-50 Blame/Zenyatta.

Horrifying

She rightfully lost last year and this year she is even less qualified to win....I can't believe she would win.

Cannon Shell 12-08-2010 11:42 AM

I still don't understand how an industry with so little media coverage has so many media members with votes on year end awards.
