the woodward

1--Wild Desert (Edgar Prado, 126)
2--Papi Chullo (Eibar Coa, 126)
3--Suave (Calvin Borel, 126)
4--Naughty New Yorker (Jose Santos, 126)
5--Sun King (Julien Leparoux, 126)
6--Flower Alley (John Velazquez, 126)
7--Second of June (Garrett Gomez, 126)
8--Premium Tap (Kent Desormeaux, 126)
9--Andromeda's Hero (Fernando Jara, 126)
10--Funny Cide (Richard Migliore, 126)
11--Wanderin Boy (Javier Castellano, 126)

funny cide will scratch if it's wet, wanderin boy may scratch if it's dry!!
sun king has finished second or third in six grade ones, is this going to be his first? i don't think it will, as he's a huge bounce candidate.
nny--bah.
suave--looking like my pick right now
flower alley---who's going to show?? will the real flower alley please stand up?! wouldn't bet him with someone else's money. may beat them for fun, but who's very confident about his chances after his last?
premium tap, would add in any exotics. don't think he'll come in on top, but that he'll be there.
andromeda's hero--hey, graded placed isn't a bad thing to have on a resume. no win bets on this guy.....

Danzig 09-01-2006 12:10 PM

forgot about wild desert, i chose him to win before, and he did....but not here. another to use in exotics.

somerfrost 09-01-2006 12:15 PM

Looks like a two horse race to me...Sun King and Flower Alley. Suave looks possible if you can get past Calvin Borel winning a grade one. Love Funny Cide but the outside post isn't good...even in the pick 6 contest, I'll probably stick with 2 horses here.

TitanSooner 09-01-2006 12:27 PM

What if Papi Chullo "somehow" drills this bunch?

Surely you got to like J. Buenaventura Vargas over Pletcher, Zito, Tagg..:D

i think sun king bounces to the moon here. flower alley, just not sure what to think about him.

waiting on odds, but think suave is the one here. UNLESS flower alley is in top form. but i have no confidence in this horse right now.

What about Second of June? I think I'm being swayed by memories rather than logic with this horse, but I do like the switch from Alborado to Gomez.

Funny Cide and Naughty New Yorker were entered in the wrong race ...

... they belong in the Gen. MacArthur ... next week at Belmont ... 8f for New York-breds.

Someone please point this out to Tagg and Kelly.

FATPIANO 09-01-2006 01:33 PM

2nd of June finally fulfills the promise he showed at 3. This is a very consistant colt......

Yep, I agree.

Bold Brooklynite 09-01-2006 01:41 PM

Sun King finally wins one for The Nicker.

I like him, too; however, Suave has beaten him in his last two. Suave is the real deal.

Gander 09-01-2006 01:58 PM

I would like to see a trainer other than Pletcher, Dutrow or Zito when the last really huge race of the meet. Gosh I am sick of those guys. Anybody but them.

i would love to see him pull it off...but he just hasn't been quite the same since his return. always seems to be knocking on the door, but can't quite get there. another to use underneath.
i think suave is your winner, seems a contentious field, i'd imagine you could make an argument for several in here.

it would certainly compliment invasor if he beat this field. bounce city, he ran his eyeballs out in his last...

sumitas 09-01-2006 03:00 PM

It'll be total rain tomorrow. So FC will scratch and who knows who else. They'll seal the track, puddles and mud everywhere. And this is better than poly , which is basically the same rain or shine ?

:D :D i had to get that dig in there, lol  but it's true

Danzig 09-01-2006 03:12 PM

the horses who invariably get the most respect are those who can win over any type of track....weather is one of many factors.
wanderin boy would be a scratch if it stayed dry, funny will scratch if it's wet. so either way, one of two will be happy.

hey, maybe they can concoct polyturf next, never an MTO entry again....

sumitas 09-01-2006 03:18 PM

Do it !! And take a patent out on it...

Danzig 09-01-2006 03:28 PM

i'm not a big fan of polytrack. too soon to tell exactly what affects it will have long-term. i think too many have jumped too quickly on that bandwagon. we already have a surface known to be kinder to a horse than running on dirt, and it's all-natural. TURF!
