Agassi may be in trouble tonight

they just said on the coverage of the US Open that he could hardly stand one day after his first match. they said he took a cortizone shot to ease the pain and discomfort. i hope he wins but that is not a good sign.

pgardn 08-31-2006 07:43 PM

He looks very fit. He just cant move like he used to. I think if the match lasts a little longer, he will get into more of a groove. Of course he could be blown of the court as his opponent is very good. Hope he hangs.

Gander 08-31-2006 08:22 PM

I think he'll win tonight. I dont notice much difference, hes still hitting the ball hard.

pgardn 08-31-2006 09:42 PM

THe Bag man is just awful right now. Missing numerous winnners, unforced errors abound. Hope this keeps up.

SCUDSBROTHER 08-31-2006 10:12 PM

Bag has a lot of talent, but is his own worst enemy. You don't make it to the finals of the Australian, and the Semis of Wimbledon ,by being a bad player. He does best with a crowd in his favor(not true this evening.)His biggest problem is his fitness.Young man is a sprinter (if there ever was one.)I think he is only 21.He has a ton of talent, but has some technique problems, and needs to be a lot more selective at the shots he uses. This is one guy that can be coached into something much better than you see this evening.Hits a lot of beautiful winners, but gets tired, and makes too many errors.I would add that even when he plays poorly,I would rather watch him make a few winners(and lose) than watch Federer tire somebody out.

pgardn 08-31-2006 10:21 PM

Agassi is just flat out immobile. He is in great shape but the poor guy just cant move well. If he gets this one, I just cant see him going much further. Bag man is huffin and puffin and Agassi is fine, but the Bag man is 10X as mobile.

pgardn 08-31-2006 10:36 PM

Bag man is playing Agassi completely the wrong way and is still hanging. He should be chipping the ball a little shallower to the corners. Needs to make Agassi bend while he is moving. Even if it means losing some points. He just slugs away with him. Bag man does need a coach. He is more interested in looking good playing than winning. No need to have deep baseline rallies with Agassi. Thats trying to beat him the hard way for the condition he is in.

It so obvious. Make him bend and move. Everything low. Not high where Agassi can crush it. It makes for fun watching but its stupid tennis.

SCUDSBROTHER 08-31-2006 10:37 PM

Bags has got the shots.LOL.Someday a coach will get him to stop getting involved in the long rallies that eventually exhaust him (in the long run.) He has the better shots than most players, but when he uses his energy up in long rallies,it plays into their hands.See tonight,he just sent this into 5 sets.He will have nothing to give in his next match(if he gets through here.)

pgardn 08-31-2006 11:17 PM

A pro, early 20's, huge talent and ridiculously out of shape.

Well, those are 2 incredibly game individuals.Baghdatis' matches often look this way.If he had won,he couldn't of gone far with his legs shot. I think he cramped like that in Australia too.Guy has big problems with his legs, and fitness(in general.) Not overweight. So,maybe he just needs to stop having the long rallies, and shorten the length of his matches(for sure.)

pgardn 09-01-2006 12:31 AM

People were wearing jackets, it was not that hot. The guy is not in shape. Its shameful actually. Andre is in fantastic shape, he just has very little flexibility and severly limited mobility. These younger guys... some of them have never been in top shape. I doubt Bags knows what it feels like. Take 10lbs-15 lbs off him and we got a player.

I'm not convinced that he is out of shape.Maybe.That is not a guy carrying a lot of extra weight.Maybe 5-10.I just think that, genetically, some people are simply not made to have as much stamina as we assume. We assume all human athletes have great stamina. That's because those without stamina don't make it very far in most sports(especially tennis.)Might just be a case where a rare low stamina athlete makes it on T.V.,because he has so much shot-making talent. Joggers tend to think everybody can run as far as they do(if they keep trying to do it,)but I think joggers are high stamina humans to begin with(or else they would hate jogging.)I am not convinced that more cardio (and less body weight )is gunna get Baghdatis to stop huffin n' puffin.I hope your right, and I am wrong. The truth is probably in between the 2 views.

Gander 09-01-2006 07:48 AM

Trust me, all the top players on the tennis tour are in excellent shape. Cramping up is not a result of being in poor shape. Your out of your mind if you think Baghdatis is not in good shape and has gotten this faralong in his career. Hes made it to the Australian Open final in January where the temps exceed 100.

The US Open is Andre's stage and the crowd and his heart got him through last night. Lets hope he wins some more matches, especially when he faces Roddick on Labor Day.

Damn I wanted to choke Andre. Bagds was cramping and couldn't run, and andre couldn't hardly keep the ball in play! Andre plays long points and rallies, that's why he's so fun to watch. Those big hitters go back and forth twice and the points over. Glad he got it done. He's always been my fav, we got the same hair do.

PS, does anybody think if Stephie got her nose done she would be hot?

She is too much like Guard Helga from the Treblinka Camp.
