Hollywood 11/12
Well now that I'm out of my mystical pick 6 wager at the Big A after one leg, let focus on some real bets for tonight at Hollywood.
RACE 1 6F 40K MDN (S) (F) #5 WARREN'S ROSE(1st)-Just missed two back when running against 25k open claimers at todays distance. Cutting back to that distance after her running third on the lead going a mile and a sixteenth. #4 GIVEME ONEREASON-Three year old making career start 14, only 2nd in for a tag. Gets the shades for the first time and will probably dueling on the lead with the 6 to her outside. #3 PHI BETA HEAT-If the race melts down, this three year old will the one coming late. Just missed at the level last time going 7 1/2 furlongs. She closed into some soft fractions. RACE 2 6F 25K CLAIMERS Seems like a very wide open race in which every horse seems capable of ending up in the winners circle. Almost used the all button here #5 FREQUENT FAME-Polanco filly looking for two in a row. Small step up and cuts back a panel, but she should be coming late with Raffie in the irons. She also has 4 wins in 7 starts over the track. #6 MARINO'S PROMISE-Stalker is making her first start in the Mike Mitchell barn who is having a good meet. He is also winning with 33% off the claim. #2 BUTCH MARINO(3rd) #3 OUR BELLINI BIKINI(1st)-I'm guessing that these are the two fillies that will trying to get the lead. The 2 does look like she has the ability to rate which could lead to the 3 getting out by herself. She does look like a bounce candidate after scoring last out at 15-1 and running a career best 77 beyer. RACE 3 6F 25K MAIDEN #2 OBSESS(1st)-Looks like he could be the lone speed. Ran second at the distance last out and a repeat of that race should graduate him. #4 TALE OF THE BAT- This gelding is making his second start off a 6 month layoff. Ran well in return and is in against what seems like a pretty weak bunch. #9 FORWARD COMMITMENT-Playing against this 6 year old making only his 14th career start. Dropping for the lowest level he's ever been in for and has a few good works for this race. Just too many layoff lines for me on what I'm guessing is going to be a short priced horse. RACE 4 1 MILE STARTER ALW (F) TURF #6 L'ENCHANTERESSE(SCRATCHED)-O'Neill filly does seem to be a hanger (1/21 with 7 seconds), but she might inherit the lead in this one and try to go wire to wire. Doesn't seem to be alot of speed in here and hoping that she gets brave on the lead. #5 RUBY LANE(2nd)-This filly is 1/14 but she has been very competitive in here last 3 turf starts. She too should be near the front. Early pick 4 .50 ticket 3,4,5 2,3,5,6 2,4 5,6 Will try to get into the late 4 a little later. Good Luck everyone. |
Small fields suck, but this is a decent wagering card. I will be playing along...
|
Gonna watch the board in the first - realize we're 3 hours out, but the firster is taking a ton early - if that holds I'm gonna include. I like your 4 a lot in there Matt. Hope the price holds.
|
With the scratch of L'Enchanteress, Ruby Lane may have it quite easy on the front. Let's hope Flores can read the Form.
I'm going to toss the firster in in the 3rd race. Not much to beat at all in there. 1 - 3,5,6 2 - 2,3,4,5,6 3 - 3,4,10 4 - 5,7 Good luck. |

Late 4
RACE 5 5 FUR 32K MAIDEN CLM (F) #1 PORTLAND(2nd)-Draws the rail for her third career start. She came from off the pace to run second last out against a repeat winner and this race looks like it has some pace in it. Also picks up Rosario in the irons. #10 REAL ROCKPORT(3rd)-She looks like the speed of the speed here, draws a tough post but the cutback to 5 panels could suit here. Shows a good work on the 6th and could be an enticing price. #4 QUE PRONTO(1st)-Gets the shades and a sight drop for her second career start. Shows a couple of solid drills coming into this race. RACE 6 6F 32K cond. CLAIMER (TURF) #4 SASSOU(2nd)-Hard working 5 year old has hit the board in 11/15 career starts (4 wins). He looks like he's a threat to go gate to wire. Taking a slight drop after losing to horses who have won their next race in his last 3 starts. #5 DAPPER GENE(1st)-Four year old is making his second start for Ted West who has very solid numbers (with limited numbers) with turf sprinters and synthetic to grass angle. Also picks up Bejerano in the saddle. RACE 7 1MILE 1/16TH restriced STAKES (F) This is an interesting race where cases could be made for almost every horse. All button is definitely a possibility. #4 ELLAFITZ-Looks like the speed of the very short field. Depending if the 5 goes with her, she could be out there all by herself. Shows the typical bullet work for Baffert coming into this race. #1 IT TIZ(2nd)-She's been facing some pretty good horses and finally gets some class relief in this race. The price will probably be unattractive, be she must be respected. #3 POINT OF REFERENCE(3rd)-Coming down from northern California for this race. She has hit the board in 14/18 races with 5 wins. P Val picks up the mount for this versitille 4 year old. #2 WASINGTON BRIDGE(1st)-Not sure if I'm going to use her as of yet. This is a situation where I am more weary of the connections (Hollendorfer/Bejerano) then of the horse. Hollendorfer's horses are usually well spotted, I am still on the fence reguarding her. RACE 8 6F 25K MAIDEN CLAIMER #11 BREAKMARK-This closer could be coming late in the finale which looks like it has some speed in it. He ran 2nd two back at 27-1 against statebred maiden special weights. Didn't disgrace himself last out when strecthed out to a mile and a sixteenth. Cutting back to 6 panels and could be a nice price. #2 FIVE A DAY(2nd)-Second off a ten month layoff for the only four year old in the field. He ran 2nd at 2-1 in his return showing some early foot. Any progression off his last race makes him a threat. Picks up Rosario, but unfortunately the price will be very unflattering. #9 CYNICAL WAGER(1st)-Very similar situation as the 2. Second off the layoff and will be trying to get to the lead. Price should be better for this Kruljac runnner. Kruljac is winning at a 24% with horses making their second start off a layoff. #10 JOHNNIE GOLD-Dropping to his lowest level in career start number three. Has taken and burned some money in his first two starts, but does show a solid pattern of works coming into this race. Guessing that he will be coming late if he comes at all and most likely at a nice price. Late .50 pick 4 1,4,10 4,5 1,3,4 2,9,10,11 $36 Good Luck |

1st - I can't slide a credit card in between any of these. 1 may get hindered by the post, but toss the last off slow and should move up off the first out Dmr MSW which would have taken any of these. 2 could be anything and getting a lot of support early. 3 should get pace to run at and figures. 4 my top selection - 2 recent troubled trips but shows past class at the distance over the cushion. 5 should take money as is one of the few that actually passed a horse albeit after a front end meltdown. 6 will go early - just depends on how far she gets away.
ALL button 2nd - figures don't fit form out of the 10/24/10 5th which 2 and 3 exit - not buying and tossing. 4 had a dream set up last out in conditioned N2L 12.5 and wasn't good enough - now moving up to unconditioned 25.... toss. 7....no. 2 horse race - 5,6 3rd - Pretty sure nothing is going with the 2 who has had pace pressure in every start - no real excuses; 4 get a half panel shortening and 2nd off is the only real threat unless the 9 isn't broken again, but not betting on that using 2 here - 2,4 4th - Very curious about the 4 here, P Val puts up 2 very nice efforts at the distance, at the condition on her at Dmr, then bails for 1 for 21 horse (that took 19 of those 21 getting through to finally break for 20) trying turf for the first time for a trainer that a perfect 0-12 1st turf. Whether she takes to the grass or not, she sure doesn't have the look to factor here. So I'm tossing both. Think the 1 is interesting shipping in from mth where she's faced much tougher than this bunch; tough field in first bow over the synth was a nice tightener for her and can pick up the pieces should the 5 and 7 duel themselves in. 1,5,7 6x2x2x3 36.00 |
I played my posted ticket and subbed the 1 in the 4th race.

I know 5/2 is no bargain, but isn't Ruby Lane a standout in here?
