How bout Pulpit still getting 50k? Who knew

I thought this was going to be about the declining Borel being awarded the Horseman of the Year Award by the KTO.

I really don't follow jockey stories much at all. They are an unfortunate evil when dealing with horse racing.

Likewise, if I was into NASCAR, I would not care much at all about pit crews.

Pulpit used to be quite a bit higher. I've never been a fan of his runners, but with the success of his sons at stud, I'd have thought Pulpit would be higher than 50k.

I think 35k is pretty fair.

Agreed. It'll drop if he doesn't get a G1 winner in his first crop. If he does, it'll go up.

Blame at 35, but his sire Arch- also broodmare sire of Uncle Mo- is only 30.

Blame is "the new hotness". Established but non-superstar sires never get more than new sires. The difference is that a Blame offspring could sell for anything. An Arch has a pretty predictable price.

Price seems right to me. He retires, not as a sensation but a question mark (in some eyes, not mine) and the market is dull right now. He carries good family, Arch is tail female to Courtly Dee and Liable to Rogh Shod, two of the greatest mares of the latter 20th century.
