Christine O'Donnell goes to law school this morning

:zz:

Quote:

WILMINGTON, Del. — Republican Senate nominee Christine O'Donnell of Delaware on Tuesday questioned whether the U.S. Constitution calls for a separation of church and state, appearing to disagree or not know that the First Amendment bars the government from establishing religion.

The exchange came in a debate before an audience of legal scholars and law students at Widener University Law School, as O'Donnell criticized Democratic nominee Chris Coons' position that teaching creationism in public school would violate the First Amendment by promoting religious doctrine.

Coons said private and parochial schools are free to teach creationism but that "religious doctrine doesn't belong in our public schools."

"Where in the Constitution is the separation of church and state?" O'Donnell asked him.

When Coons responded that the First Amendment bars Congress from making laws respecting the establishment of religion, O'Donnell asked: "You're telling me that's in the First Amendment?"

Her comments, in a debate aired on radio station WDEL, generated a buzz in the audience.

"You actually audibly heard the crowd gasp," Widener University political scientist Wesley Leckrone said after the debate, adding that it raised questions about O'Donnell's grasp of the Constitution.
The video and more comment from the law school guys ...

More O'Donnell idiocy today

It is unbelievable that this person has "run for Senate" three times, and, aside from not ever having apparently read the Constitution while maintaining that's her specialty over the past many years, can't even name a current US Senator easily.

This woman is a moron. She is an insult to the Senate of the United States, and makes our country a laughing stock internationally.

This senate seat was guaranteed Republican until this doofus won the primary.

Delaware Republican Senate candidate Christine O'Donnell found herself stumped on Wednesday night when she was asked to name a Democratic senator she would feel comfortable working with if elected to the chamber in November.

The latest verbal gaffe from the tea party-backed contender came when she squared off in a debate against Democratic opponent Chris Coons. Via ThinkProgress, a transcript of the exchange between O'Donnell and the forum's moderator:

MODERATOR: Give me a name, Christine, of someone in the U.S. Senate, across the aisle that you're comfortable working with.

O'DONNELL: [Pause] Well, she's not a senator any more, but I would definitely have to say Hillary Clinton. [...]

COONS: One of the real risks as we go forward, is that if we elect someone who literally cannot name a single currently serving senator in my party with whom she would work -

O'DONNELL: Senator Lieberman!

COONS: Someone who has no experience crossing the biparistan divide.

She's a misfit - for sure. But no more so than a lot already sitting on board - some in higher places. Shall we list the misspeakes of Joe Biden? Still, not an excuse to give her a pass. But, I'm glad she defeated the Rhino, Mike Castle. I'd rather a Democrat take the seat than a Democrat posing as a Republican.

Give me a break! Very few people in THIS country know who she is but internationally they're laughing? Now that's funny!

this post is the Republicans main problem.

Its crazy to think a Republican would rather have a guy with a "D" next to his name, then a moderate conservative with an "R" next to his name.

O'Donnell would be an embarrassment to the United States if she gets elected... which makes her a perfect candidate for Senate. They are all embarrassments.

Yeah, well call me crazy. Call me anything you'd like. Just remember - when you point a finger, you've got 4 others pointing back at you.

I'd rather a wolf in wolf clothing than a wolf in sheep's clothing And, we only get to vote for who we get to vote for. O'Donnell is an embarrassment and I doubt she has any chance of winning, but Castle was a turncoat and I'm glad he's gone. It shouldn't be a lifetime job. Term limits - please!

All politicians are crooks - doesn't matter the party. Whether they were that way when they got to office or the office made them that way - doesn't matter. They're all crooks. Picking out the lesser crooks is the hardest choice.

Exactly. That was a "guaranteed" GOP seat. The Tea Party extremists (unless something drastically changes in the next 2 weeks) has cost the GOP the Senate: O'Donnell, Miller, Angle.

Moderate conservatives, the mainstay of the GOP for the past 40 years, are no longer welcome in the party. Mike Castle is no "Rhino". That's a characterization based upon a scale so recently slid so far to the right that Rand Paul seems normal to some.

:zz: Guess it depends on your point of view. In my world (where politics is a big deal), everyone knows who she is, and my friends from England and Australia think we in America have gone part crazy, which started with Sarah Palin.

The entire city council of Quincy, Illinois are crooks! The mayor of every single small town in Maine is a crook! Every county treasurer of every county in Idaho is a crook! Oh, and also....my father....is a crook! The list just goes on and on. Ronald Reagan....Crook! Man, it really is everybody!

As usual your political acumen is far ahead of others Doreen. Thanks for cracking yet another case with your typically insightful political analysis!

Of course they're crooks. There is no other city nearby, so they can get away with anything they want.

The quickest way to get rich is to become a politician.
