"Secretariat" on Late Late Show...sort of ;)
 

For the last two nights now, Craig Ferguson has graced us with "Secretariat" making an in-studio appearance. By "Secretariat" I mean two poor interns in a chestnut horse costume running in while they play some silly music, then running back out again. The 2nd appearance, tonight, someone sent in a tweet or email about 'wow I didn't know he was so swayback' (it's a very lumpy costume) so they brought him back out. The two guys accidentally ran into a wall as they left. Craig showed it in slow motion, had them come out a couple more times, and swore no horses were harmed.

I'll try to find a clip or two. John Malkovich was on the show last night, but he was promoting his movie Red and is a pleasant but strange individual so no real effort to bring up either movie. The number of times Craig said Secretariat's name was pretty high, and all publicity is supposed to be good publicity yes? :p He seems to find the bit amusing so perhaps it will happen again. The audience enjoyed it.

Audiences, being comprised mostly of people, are idiotic.

These are the types of people who think because Zenyatta "goose steps" she's an all time great.

By the way, do these tards even know what a goose step is? When I hear 'goose step', I immediately think of either the Red Army or the Wehrmacht!

With Moss being Jewish, I find that a bit odd.

That's a serious question. I haven't heard that in the coverage I've caught. And I live in California, and am an unabashed admirer of Zenyatta as a race horse for history.

I certainly know and accept the negative associated with "goose steps."

But for anyone born after....let's say...when reruns of Hogan's Heroes ceased being widely played.....I think the phrase "goose steps" would be meaningless in significance.

Even with all the tax dollars we have given to education.

I heard it, and if I had to guess I'd say it was during the Bourbon/Spinster coverage Sunday--the reference to Randy Moss makes me think that's correct. I know it was recent, and I know I did think it an odd choice of words. (Everyone of any real level of education associates goose steps with Nazis, it's just how it is, and it doesn't matter if they're 25 or 85. I'm sure some don't, but then again they'd probably tell you the Civil War took place in 1930 like they tell Jay Leno on those street interviews.).

What goose steps and Zenyatta have to do with Secretariat, I've no idea. I think Indian Charlie got into the sherry or something. By all means, IC, insult the intelligence of a group of people who found something funny when they've done absolutely nothing to you, then turn the thread into something about Zenyatta. If it makes you feel any better, not only do they not think her dancing is heaven sent, they probably have no idea who she is. Here's a newsflash for you, you're in the horse racing "audience." As you find audiences idiotic, you might want to see a therapist about that self-loathing.

Thanks for the dime store pop analysis there. After some deep soul searching, I have learned to stop hating myself and shall now turn my acrimony to those that I feel are idiotic. I feel much better now.

The reference was not to Randy Moss. Where is the sense in that? It was to the owners of Zenyatta, namely Jerry Moss.

I've heard of this Zenyatta goose step for weeks now. It was not just one or two obscure things I heard in passing. It's been on TV and in print. It's not a big deal to me, I just found it odd. WTF is so hard to figure out about that?

Did you think I was implying that Zenyatta dresses up at night with a swastika leg band and practices her goose step while no one is around to see? Maybe she throws out the occasional Heil Hitler leg salute! Jesus Crist man, relax a little.

And, oh, by the way, the two people in a horse suit has been done to death over the last 500 years. It may have been funny five centuries ago, but that it still draws laughs from a studio audience should tell you about the people who are typically in a studio audience.

One last thing, there are indeed many people who think Z is just that, heaven sent.
