Hmmm NO MGM or Wynd. Interesting. I didnt think Wynd wanted it all that bad.

sumitas 08-29-2006 09:37 PM

that is a puzzling bit of news in that article. i thought MGM was a part of the NYRA bid entity. not a separate bidder unto themselves.

MGM Grand and Wynd didnt want it. Why would they. They have better opportunities out there. Plus it is going to be too regulated by the state.

This ad hoc committee to determine the bids for the right to conduct racing does not have the final say. Nothing will happen until the new year when a new governor and legislature are in place. If NYRA is denied the franchise the courts will ultimately determine if they own the tracks.

Here's the BIG question ...

Which one proposes installing polytrack?

sumitas 08-30-2006 11:15 AM

Is poly getting on your nerves ? It's not meant to do that. It's meant to be a good thing, a safe thing.

Poly is not going to be in the proposal. Elliotr Spitzer will give it back to the NYRA but he will have it under tight wraps. The gov't isnt going to want to give up its share that the current NYRA feels is too high in order for them to make a profit. The other 3 bids are feeble in my mind.

... my nerves are as calm as Don Knotts' were.

Am I nervous?
